Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It would seem that way. Nothing would surprise though. Only takes an injury or 2 and things change quickly.

Speed is going and that was always his best asset. Pushing 30 and best is behind him.

Everything is around value. He is not worth anywhere near his last contract
Couldn’t believe the hubbub over him being run down by the Hammer as if JAC still has the speed he had five years ago. If they did race they are talking about on GF day with Saab, AKP, Hammer etc and JAC was in it, he’d come last.

This tends to be a very dead time in terms of rumours. We need to wait for teams to get knocked out and then their preso nights to announce whose leaving.
Not much we can do

Bit of a myth mate .., Sharks are still playing and Hunt was announced a few weeks back… these guys employ agents to talk to Richo leaving them free to concentrate on the next game

Unless he said, "hey boys Let's Trot" and they did and he sprinted.

Dead thread.

What, like RFM, Nu Brown, his son, and $900k for Leilua?
RFM, Leuilua (cows are paying half of his salary) & Kyle were all solid first grade players this year… Are you saying they were bad signings? Let’s not forget Dragons were predicted to be in the spoon battle with us but were instead fighting for the top 8. Those signings along with Flanagan clearly made a difference

They can all catch a football. Mason avoids it as though it's meteor about to hit.
I remember Edwards being a borderline liability under the high ball early in his career, now he has glue on his hands. Fuller is 26, Paps was released by us early on. Walsh is a freak.

Point is Mason wasn't ready this year, very few players just take to playing such an important position in first grade straight away, but I thought he did an admirable job at the back regardless. He was totally thrown in the deep end. I think there is a bit to work with there given a year or 2 to develop in reserves (as he should have been doing this year).

I don’t get the Mason at fullback hype but to be fair to the kid he does have age on his side & looks to have a very impressive work ethic.
Have been a few players struggle with their hands / bombs but then click in thier 22+ yrs.

Mason seemed to have kept up with the NRL speed well (outside of the bomb topic) and kept running all game.

He could be a Fitzy / perfect utility role type player, the kid has some NRL potential.

His trajectory is very high at fullback when you consider 2023 was his 1st season in that position as a bottom-ager in SG Ball. He showed tremendous elusiveness last year but his weakness was his 1-on-1 last line of defence at times, although he did produce the occasional very good cover tackle. Should also note that bombs aren't as prevalent or as well directed in SG Ball so he hadn't much experience there.

This season, arm injury aside, he was much stronger in defence although had some bad misses.

If Benji wants him to be primarily a fullback, Heath should spend this off-season & pre-season catching bombs of all types. I think he's got the character that would do these extras so I can see Heath taking another big step forward next season.
