Fair enough, but not everyone can read surf conditions like seasoned surfers.

Mate.

There’s no reward.

He isn’t earning more money.

He is owed the entire contract. We have paid forward portions. Which in turn give us salary cap space later on.

Most clubs will do this in some way. It just so happens our player went overseas for a period in between, which draws more attention to this.

He is still guaranteed the full amount of his entire contract. And now the next two years when we have the extra recruits and are recruiting, we have 200k and 250k extra to play with.

Next year we already have a great fullback in Bula ( imagine him with better playmakers )
We have plenty of wingers ,Turuva ,Skelton , Staines ,Laulilii etc
But whos our centers ?
ATM - i feel its Olam and Douehi with Bird either a lock or no 14 bench utility ?
Galvin and Luai are our 6 &7 - not sure where Sezer fits in
Problem is Olam and Douehi are injury prone and not sure how much they are fit and available .
Would like one top center to be added to our books !

I think we took advantage of an opportunity

We don't want him and he doesn't want to be here

We did a deal and it worked for both of us

Other than that we are stuck with the deal Tim Sheens signed him to

What more do you want?

We'd all love him gone but until some other club shows interest in him we owe him what we signed him to

A big Hi from Chiang Mai Thailand , seems no news on the comings and goings again , maybe after our presentation night there will be a list of see ya laters and a few new names joining .
i hope we are looking at RGC. He would make a huge difference and he would be able to see who we have coming like Bird , Turuva , Luai , Hunt , that’s not bad for a rebuild .

The thing with Bateman is if we paid him say $700k this year, plus forward paid him $450k from future years into this year, and he earned $450k from playing in the super league, it means he was paid $1.6m this year. From a cash flow perspective, I don’t believe any player in the history of rugby league has ever had $1.6m of cash flow in a single season from on field earnings only. Not even in the Super League era?

I know the numbers are approximate and I know what has been forward paid he was owed anyway but I am talking about cash flow.

This would be right up there with the biggest rort of the century given Batemans’s output.

I think the main reason is our players who leave will always go to better teams and will play and look better in quality teams. Tommy Talau is a good example. I don't think he's any better a player at Manly but he sure looks like it.

i dont get how Woods earned kudos,he was a bludger in the U/20's n never changed,nor has d love 4 him

That's just the way it goes

Probably the only reason he did what he did

But it helped us so we needn't care

We allowed Sheens to give him this deal so we have to just deal with it

Agree, it was just an observation.

We haven’t paid him any more or any less, we’ve just moved some of the money around.

It was a stupid deal to begin with and even us battlers could see it.

Montoya $300K & Hetherington $450K is fair.

So let's hope we can get someone to take a player or two off our hands.

u b looking at it in the wrong light,contracts n lawyers ,squeeze every cent out of Bateman /his new team ,if they want him bad enough
 
we could send him to our sister team in NT if the fine print warrants it.Bateman wants out but at what price,WT need 2 stand tall n brake him,its pascoes n lee s fault,we need to change etc
 
probably with in rights(small print) to park Sullivan at Ryde Hawks.Think Bennet could unlock him,maybe we just need 2 lower our expectations on our returns from him.Or as bn suggested - eduacate the kid ,raise his value in reggies n shop him 26.imold school,talks like that usually finish the same way they start,with a pointed finger n eye contact
