I read an interesting article where one of the pundits were talking about the difference between club coaching and campaign coaching and how different it is. Said some coaches aren't suited to one or the other, said it's some coaches can't seem to have their message and work sunk in over a long period of time, where others like Bellamy couldn't adapt the long term style of coaching into the rep arena. Think with NZ and NSW Maguire might just be that campaign style of coach

Yes, it was ordinary without the full roster on the park, their halves had only 6 games together.

Better coach wouldn't have picked Sualii at centre and Hudson Young in the side and not had a bench utility. To be fair. Madge pivoted after game one

And the marquee players signed on long term were Packer, Mbye, Reynolds and Brooks.

Madge signed Brooks to a 4 year extension which cost the $3.6 million over 4 years in 2019 which was his first year with the club.

Yeah for sure.
If all he did was scream and abuse his players, he would have lost the dressing room years and years ago.
The players love and respect him equally.

He also had a QLD origin team with 11 of his Storm players to out manoeuvre but couldn’t get the job done. He was pretty much pla6ing against his own team.
You can say what you will about Bellamy, but my thinking is he hasn’t proven his elitist coaching tag currently bestowed on him.

If Madge takes over the Broncos and is successful it will prove that all the dysfunctionality and poor performances from this Concord based club is not the result of anyone single
Coach or Manager but more to do with the whole place being a hot bed of politics with a divided factions over many years .
Just look at how well so many ex tigers have done elsewhere

Can’t argue against that Stevec. one thing I’ve noticed about Madge is he shows a lot of respect and unconditional love for players. Ricki was happy for his support in Canberra and grateful that he was away from the political turmoil at Concord.

Makes you wonder how much input Bellamy has in recruitment at Storm? When he is asked what he looks for in a new recruit, he does a very basic profile. eg. He needs to be able to run etc, explaining that if they have the physical attributes coaches can upskill them.

Also said he looks at the quality of the person off the field. Do a lot of background checking to see if they are the type who will fit into the culture.
