The rhetoric was much the same when Pascoe was hired. "We conducted an exhaustive global search and received numerous applications..." Consequently, the Panthers became significantly more successful, and... well, the rest is history.
Yeah, it’s nothing new under the sun and our mob aren’t the only spin merchants out there.

A more truthful account of hiring Hodgo would be to tell people he’s about as ground floor factory as a new assistant can get.

The club has no real idea whether or not he can do the job.

He says he can, we all hope he can, but we don’t really know.

And with his bitter vanilla record, I’d be thinking 1 season was enough, but of course, we’ve locked ourselves up for two. That’s how we roll.

I think that's the wrong lesson to take from the Panthers success.

Remember they replaced Pascoe with Corey Payne, then he left.
Infact I knew a guy at Panthers under Gould (non league). Gould pushed an entire NRL focus, Horrible guy to work under, would click his fingers and expect you to come. if you were not a footballer, he did not care for you at all.

Nepotism? Who is Cameron Ciraldo?? The difference is:
Cameron Ciraldo seemed to be hard with the players at training. Pushing them further Melbourne style.
Hodgo, seems nothing like that.

We need a Phil Gould or similar to structure our Coaching and development.

Richo do ?

Richo do ?
Sounds like a karate style.

Richo do ..

But I don't think Richo will Do.
Don't get me wrong. He seems to be a good GM. He will get the club running and be more organised. Contract negotiations should be better, back of house stuff just smoother.

The best thing Richo has done is tap GI to train with the guys. If Richo can bring some of the bunnies talent, excellent.

What Richo can't do is be Phil Gould. He may be able to help guide new talent through, but he won't be able to realise if he has the next Thurston infront of him or someone who will come close and not make it.

Good GM, not a magician.

Jesus there are some doomsayers on here. Hodgo has had experience in two codes, coached a SL side and has coached a KOE side before, yes he was a former player of the club but anyone would think he was coming here with Bryce Gibbs coaching CV. Give the blokes a chance.
Hodgson has had some head coach experience but I'm not sure his results were very uplifting, and the same with the work he did with the Wallabies, but since he is here ( and I like him) I'm happy to give him a chance,

Nothing any of us can do about it anyway, I'm more concerned about Heigno, and Morris they have had a full season with us, but the results speak for themselves under their watch.

Is HBG still trying to find a way to sack Barry O, weasel out of a couple of recommendations in the Crawford / Barnes report while looking squeaky clean?
Whats the hold up?

Are you actually saying that Phil Gould walks around an office clicking his fingers?

Funny ‘cos Bryce replied to one of my tweets saying if he was their coach he’d make their defense a brick wall.

Yeah, I don’t like our coaching staff one bit and adding Hodgo doesn’t change that…we have to trust them I suppose and see what they can do over the off season. The last one they had was a failure, hopefully they learnt something.

You’re being nice I think. The coaching team is flat out putrid.

Bryce was the best defender the club has had including the Wests and Balmain sides I've seen since the late 70s and a legend who made it onto a GF score sheet .

Never shirked it or half arsed it and wasn't treated the best by the club at the end.

Recall he went 350 odd tackles without a miss in 2010.

Could think of a worse defensive coach.

Even if he managed to get some line speed into some of these sloths it would be a start

On what? They are only ever filled with fluff

Yes, I think there’s many ways they could improve the on line membership experience.

Every time we sign a player, they put up a couple of quotes by Benji saying how great the guy is and how wonderful it’s all going to be.

I don’t expect Benji to be mad or disappointed in publishing that he’s hired someone, but the fact that Benji likes a player, it’s not exactly awe inspiring.

Because the assumption with this message is that Benji is somehow an authority figure and we can trust his judgment.

I don’t know anyone who trusts his judgment. Not to say he’s not trying or is well intended. He’s not a bad person. He’s a bit of a dim wit, but that’s fine too. I want a footy coach not a lecturer.

“The jury being out” is about as high as I can take his tenure at the moment and I’ve already spoken about finding him a personal coach.

If Benji puts in another horrid season, new recruits might ask if he can refrain from praising them publicly for fear of an unwanted association.

I’d be far more interested in knowing what these fitness metrics are and a rank of the players on that metric.
