Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Buzz loves spreading bad news and leaking Tigers stuff because he knows it creates interest and attracts an audience.

I think Gutho would be good addition on the right terms. I’d use him as a utility back. Fierce competitor, trains the house down, good for the side mentally like JL. Big match experience, good kicker.

After the injuries and suspensions hit us, there’s far worse players to call up.

I think they should for top line talent.
Weve seen an Origin player and a golden boot winner defect this year. The NRL should have done something to try and keep them.
I dont know whether they should for a kid like Makasini which is where you are going I suspect? Unproven teenagers may be hard to justify.
I wonder if the Roosters went to the NRL and said can you help us keep this kid in the game would they have received support? Call me paranoid but these are the kinds of small advantages that we constantly hear about. They all add up to the kind of results that you collated in the salary cap thread. Smart management yes, but also inequity.

Where has it been reported he was promised a first grade start, twice that article says "could" but I haven't seen any guarantees or promises.
If he plays well he will get a debut late in the season. My point was if telling a young player they are a chance at making a debut convinces them to stay I don’t see any problems with it if they are good enough

Done without a salary cap though yeah?
And under the old unlimited tackle rule. Tactics very different back then, no real urgency to move the ball so Saints were good at holding possession, wearing down the opposition, then a quick try or two and it was all over.
The league introduced the 4 tackle rule to try and break their dominance and they missed the GF in 67. It had the desired effect, and changed the game forever. Four tackles was deemed to rushed so six tackles introduced in 1971.

Something I found interesting with certain clubs recruitment is that the Roosters have still got 7 spots on their 30 man roster open ......Storm have 6 spots open on their 30 man roster ......we have none I believe .....interesting how the successful clubs think and how we think ....

Absolutely not. This will just result in more players "pretending" to go to union to use it as leverage to up their pay and play for the top teams. It won't help the game or the struggling teams one bit.

No player has ever been missed really.

There was bit of chat a few pages ago about the effectiveness of some of players , in particular the back 3 .

These guys did a season analysis of stats beyond tackles & hitups .

Very interesting listen

Nothing to do with how clubs 'think'.

Successful clubs have good players queuing up to play for them, youngsters happy to wait for their chance. They have superstars on big money and then fill out the last few roster spots with players on minimum wage. We should be trying to implement the same culture here.

Players don't play no talkies in clubs like the Storm because they would isolate themselves. Strong clubs back their coaches over players who are past their best or not good enough and tap them before they get to that point and only keep the ones who are capable of still contributing at a level needed to succeed.

Why and how? We care not a successful club, no superstars (Luai not here yet) and players queuing up yo leave.
I wish we were a successful club and implement what they do.
