OFFICIAL Jordan Miller #289

Always good to see our players get a chance at International level, however I hope it doesn't stop much of Miller's pre-season. Probably the player on our Top 30 who stands to benefit the most from a tough pre-season.

We need Turuva and Miller to help out Api. If they win their first 2 games, all of Api's suspension will be served through international matches. Otherwise Api will miss Round 1.
But API or Bula not in Fiji squad ?
So what does that mean, we lose Api for first 3 games ?

Api would have been the 1st player picked, but wasn't named due to his suspension and them knowing he won't play any games for them. It would have bewn pointless for them to name him. Hopefully Fiji get a 3rd game and he misses all 3 for International duties.

Bula had shoulder surgery and is currently recovering/doing his rehab.

Wow...what a thoroughly deserved selection.
Oh well, if nothing else it's a couple of extra games and training runs in the off season playing against men and hopefully improving his fitness level and condition.

Better than sitting around the whole time drinking beers and eating take aways, but on the negative side, he gets to come back to pre-season training later which gives him more time to sit around drinking beers and eating take aways. 🤣

Always wondered how that works.

Do they have to officially name him so that the the game counts as one of his suspensions or do the judiciary just assume that he would have been selected?

Seems like a bit of a grey area.

Does pre-season count towards suspension?

Behind the scenes I imagine that they would need to inform the player/NRL that they would have been selected. But when releasing the naming of the teams to the public there shouldn't be a need to put a player in who won't be there. That's my take on it anyway. Particularly as Api is Fiji's best player and that he would be playing if not suspended.

I agree, there must be some sort of notification given to the NRL/Judiciary that a player would be selected if they were not serving a current suspension, so hopefully Api only serves a week at the most in the regular season.

Wonder if the club pulled the pin on him playing for Fiji in favour of a bigger pre-season. Not in the international players listed by the club today.

Hopefully, he’s young plenty of time for future Fiji games, but without the hard yards early that might be a one off opportunity for him, you know what I mean

Problem with him being picked for Fiji means he won't get back until January ...
Not ideal for a tough pre season he really needs
I don't think he will be used in FG heaps for the first part of 2025 anyway, so don't think a big preseason is as important as steady and continual conditioning for big Jordan.
Unlike guys like Api and Luai, I don't think Jordan would be given much time off after internationals, couple weeks at most then straight into preseason probably the best thing for him.
Rep footy exposes players to another level of competition which is vital for our young guys who only see finals from their couch at home. I don't see a downside to his selection.

Under the RLPA guidelines the players must have either a 6 or 8 week break ...( can't remember if it's 6 or 8 weeks )

I'm not sure of the answer ...so here goes

The WTs have announced and congratulated all players both male and female picked for the national sides

But Miller was not mentioned

So has he failed a fitness test or is our media team incompetent
