Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He’s been in the job two seasons and already stuffed his cap. It’s nothing a good operator couldn’t fix, but can he/we?
Stuffed might be a bit harsh, but it’s very tight for spots.
what is the common denominator amongst these names?

John Bateman
Chris Fa'agutu
Josh Feledy
David Klemmer
Kit Laulili'i
Justin Matamua
Brent Naden
Solomone Saukuru
Tony Sukkar

all were deals done by Tim Sheens and Warren McDonnell. coincidentally, they're just about every poor deal we've done these past few years, with Sullivan the only other.

I don't think Chris Fa'agutu has been a bad deal. Is he even in the top 30?

How they extended Naden I'll never know

Madge was good enough to get a gig at the Broncos. Good enough for them. Not for us 🤷🏻‍♂️
So in one comment you are saying the club "hasn't changed" (whatever that means) because Benji is still here and in another you are implying that sacking Madge was the wrong decision?

Seriously short memory on how awful Madge's tenure with us.

Its about time the club committed to a project. Big questions on whether Benji is the coach to do it, but sacking Benji at this point would be a mess. In saying that, pressure will be on him next year and there will need to be objective improvements in results even with a seriously flawed squad.

Fa'agutu goes to top 30 in 2025. I think he's got plenty of potential and promise but he's not ready for a top 30 deal, imo. probably a season too soon.

that said there's been many a player these last couple years that have come from nowhere. I'd be more than happy if he was the next one.

I can see both points of the argument, Madge is a great coach when he has a strong roster but is poo when he has to rebuild or work with average players, hence he will probably do well at the Broncos but was never going to succeed here. To sack Benji would be a massive mistake now, if we don't improve next year and are still in the run for the spoon then decisions need to be made.

Madge was perfect for Origin. Small intense doses with an extremely talented playing group. To say Madge didn't get a fair crack here is totally revisionist. Maybe they can go rewatch "Tales From Tiger Town" to relive some of the glory days.

Getting the job is only half the battle. Will be interesting to see if the Brisbane players clique allows him to succeed.
Remember part of his problem with us was the players bitching about his methods.
