Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

For those who cry out there are no attractive forwards on the market I have listed some that would be worth a chat;
Market Place for 2025 and 2026
Xavier Willison – Bronco’s - Prop - off contract 2025, 22yrs, 199cm, 114kg
Nelson Asofa-Solomona – Storm, 28yrs
Oregon Kaufusi – Sharks – Prop, similar to Stef. – option 2025
Tuku Hau Tapuha – Sharks - off contract 2025, 196cm, 22yrs, 114 kg
Davvy Moale – Souths, 22yrs, is similar to Stef, 48 games, 186cm, 112kg
Leo Thompson – Knights, Prop, 24yrs, 186cm, 107kg until 2025
Pasami Saulo - Raider’s interchange prop 26 yrs, 190cm, 103kg (KOE player of year 2023)
Tristan Powell offered contract [Kade 7] – Storm prop. 102kg
Peter Hola – Raider’s prop, 25yrs, 192cm, 110kg
Alec Tuitivake – 2025
Chris Patolo – Bulldog - prop/2nd row, 23yrs, 185cm, 110kg
Backrowers
Charlie Guymer – Eels 2nd row/lock, syndesmosis injury 2024 [ankle] asked permission to talk to rival clubs. Was looking good until injury! On dev. contract
Ethan Bullemor – Manly, 24 yrs. 2nd row, signed till 2025
J'maine Hopgood – Eels lock till 2027, 25 yrs, 185cm, 102 kg

Trent Loiero – Storm, till 2025, 2nd row, 23yrs, 192cm, 104kg [played in 2024 GF]

Tallis Duncan – Souths - lock forward - 188cm, 98 kg
Sione Mauta'uatia – 2nd row
Harrison Hassett – Penrith, Aust Schoolboy rep. 2nd row
Harry Hayes – Bulldog 2nd row/prop, off contract 2025, made team of the week RD 25
This should get the keyboard warriors raring to go!
You do realise off contract 2025 means they can't play for us until 2026 right?

I'd stop using ONLY the Bulldogs as the forward pack comparison to strive for.

Dolphins & Dragons are very similar in quality, but play very differently again. Just because we are not identical in body shape with the Bulldogs doesn't mean the forwards we have cannot be effective in the right system & environment.

Signing Frizell to replace Bateman- I'm sure we are all onboard with that. Just remember, signing 33 year old Frizell is different to 26 year old Frizell. It's all about expectation.

I would take JAC yesterday if it was possible. If Turuva is playing centre, this strengthens the outside backs even further. It also allows Skelton to play centre if Turuva ends up back on the wing. And it allows the club to move on players like Staines etc as well.

But again- 30 year old JAC is not 24 year old JAC. Expectations need to be realistic. He's an upgrade, not a superstar.

Everyone bagging people who post like @kade7 and others - F@$k off!!!

We want to hear rumors that’s why we’re here.

I appreciate them for posting and I don’t care if they’re 1 day early or 1 day after anything else I hear.

Others who don’t post rumors but just put others down should start a new thread called “not rumors” - see how fun it is over there by yourselves bagging each other.

If we can offload Bateman, Frizell would be immense for 2 years. He could lock down our right edge, is a consumate professional in training & effort, provides more experience and IMPORTANTLY would be a barrier for our upcoming backrowers in 21yo Lachlan Broederlow, 20yo Tony Sukkar, 18yo Archie Duncombe & 17yo Pheonix Godinet. He's one of Benji's best mates too.

Yes create a new topic and the baggers can bag in there and leave here for juicy rumours

Don't disagree.

But at the same time- if he is slower, less effective, injured etc- we are not getting 26 year old Frizell.

You'd be buying in a guy that is the oldest player in the squad from Day 1. Expectations on him should be realistic. I would expect him to play to the best of his ability. But that might not be the dream some have in mind.

Purely guesswork here but reading the tea leaves, these are the outgoings I think will occur over the next few weeks ...

1 Jordan Miller (all the rumours & non-club international acknowledgment too coincidental, to Souths or Dogs)
2 Brandon Tumeth (I reckon he won't take up PO & Moses will find him a spot at the Knights)
3 John Bateman (middle grounnd will be agreed & off to Manly he'll go)
4 Adam Doeuihi (Dragons will offer him a 2 year deal & opportunity to be a backup half)
5 One of Brent Naden, Star To'a or Charlie Staines (if we can't find a suitor for Naden then we'll happily release To'a or Staines on full freight)

That will have us at 26 roster spots out of 30 allowing Sione Fainu to be re-signed, and allow us to target another middle, a backrower and left wing.

For sure.

But if we get Frizell of 2024, that will be fine.

But Bateman did give up by cracking and having ill discipline time after time
Can we match Bateman , Cesar , And Api and say Seyfarth for
1) Giving away Penalties
2) getting suspended
let’s see how they rank and who cracked the most and cost us the most , I’m not sure who but I’m sure Bateman was as bad as others

Sezer was worst. API second worst. Seyfarth 3rd. Bateman did play a lot less games though…
