Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

not against moving bud on, but i do think his best footy is still in front of him

if atkinson signs at the dragons, i think he will end up at the sharks

🦈 every club plays ex players to play at different clubs

anyone heard anything more about adam ? vossy saying it was a done deal

Roosters? Lol

How?
They have Dom Young and Tupou - Both top tier Wingers on Good Money....
unless they're shipping off Tups, But he just re-signed also...
Then there's the high profile Rugby guy - He's got a bot of something also....
He's not playing for crackers I'm sure of it.
Where does he fit?

I reckon they're playing for a big name half and middles in the next year or so...

2026?

Tupou might hang em up

Sione Mata'utia is a good player but from recollection suffered from injury. The SMH article provides background.

Retires.

Maybe......
The Rugby guy though I reckon has the goods!!

Parra have a lot of money and no wingers atm
Parra always seem to recruit well.
Just don't ever live up to the hype.

Either way, I doubt it's us making a play for Ronaldo. Would be nice though.

Doueihi?

You'd have think done given hunt is gone. They do not have anything that represents a second half on their books.

Flanagan then daylight. The young bloke who filled in last year wasn't ready & Bird is now gone.

I think given how aggressive we are being we have the extra spot plus another $350k in the kit with him leaving.

Tigers are on the hook for them for the next 3 seasons. So either we pay the reported $300k or so for each to play elsewhere for the entire length of the contract or we pay forward while the club HAS the cap space to lower the freight in 2026 onwards.

I've not heard the club having trouble affording buying players for next season. It's roster spots. So I'm assuming there are probably the dollars invested in Papali'i, Utoikamanu etc mostly available- somewhere between $800-$1.2m I would assume.
I doubt there'd be that much free cap space. I'd assume to have a list of 30 we would be Cap compliant currently, meaning we've spent at least 95% of the Cap. This would mean at best about 600k of available cap space.

Teig Wilton should be on the radar for 2026.

I suppose they are too busy sorting 2025 may not be looking that far ahead right this second

Klemmer replacement?

Teig & May, start
Pole and Hunt, bench

Twal, back up.
Or on an edge.

Sam Fainu has locked down one side.

Bird is only for 2 years.

We need to sort something for 2026 pending Seyfarth (hopefully 2 more years) Bateman (hopefully gone)

this article regarding Sullivan indicates that the club has every intention of signing both Hetherington and May but are in need of clearing out both roster spots and cap space to get it done.

the fact that we’re keen to pay half of both Bateman and Sullivan’s salaries says it all.

Penrith paid considerable dollars to get rid of the likes of RCG, Whare and DWZ to create room for the kids and put the broom thru culturally.

looks as if we’re about to do the same.

May as well right. It’s the smart way forward and we don’t have the money to spend elsewhere
