Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Add another problem to the organisation, then try to fix it. Seems like a good approach!
Our biggest problem is that we suck, and keep losing matches and coming last....
He can help rectify that, and that's what's paramount for our future. Having a bunch of nice guys the past 5 years has got us nowhere. Sometimes done ego needs to be massaged, that's what Bennett. Etc do

the boys on the excellent tigers Podcast West tigers Faithful were saying Chris Faagutu has been paid out and a roster spot has opened up...bit of a shame but if we can get either Hetherington or May it would be great.
A club that has failed to develop any players of note over the past decade. Galvin is about it, maybe Pole. And we let one of our best young props go when so many others deserve to be paid out before him. We are just horrible judges of talent. Chris is aggressive, a winner, a leader and a good person. Exactly the traits you want in your squad.
Who chose him to go when the likes of Sukkar, Feledy, Kit, Toa tumeth are all still in our top 30?!
If releasing him gets us May,ok, Chris will have no trouble getting a contract up there. Maybe time was of the essence and this was the lesser of all evils

Talent ID at the club has been awful because staff changes so often, so there has been little strategy in what they’re after. A club like Penrith have been consistent about what they want for a decade - fitness. Canterbury are doing the same now. It’s no surprise that the gun rookie at the Tigers is also the fittest bloke at the club too.

And you don’t appear to understand how pay outs work. The player needs to agree to an early release. Perhaps Faagatu wanted to go, or his manager has something lined up for him unlike the others who could be digging in because they don’t have other options.

And as this is a rumours thread, a rumour is Faagatu and Miller were two of the worst performers in training in a squad with several poor performers. If that’s the case, then they’ll have very short careers in the NRL. Another example of the club blowing its load on a couple of big Polynesian junior players who are found out when everyone else grows up!
More like bad coaching and the inability to inspire players to do better!

Maybe Madge had some input and a mutual swap / life line was given to Chris was done.
Or Richo got him a contract as Brissy Tigers to get his head / fitness up to speed, change of scenery, as he is a QLD lad after all.

Chris Faagutu has never been the biggest bloke on the park even from juniors. So to say he got found out when everyone else grows up is a reach. Especially considering the accolades that Chris has had in schoolboy rugby. Living in Brisbane for a short period of time for work, he was one of the standout players in QLD alongside Keano Kini, Karl Oloapu, Josiah Pahulu. None of these guys are tall but the work rate they had was second to none. It makes you wonder if the club had anything to do with him going backwards as opposed to the others mentioned as the others have gone on to debut while Chris was still down the pecking order here

Something fishy here. Out of all the young forwards we have in the top 30, Fa'agutu would be the last player you'd pay out. Tumeth, Sukkar, Kit, Matamua and even Miller should have all been on the chopping block before him IMO.

I'm not saying he's going to be a superstar, but he's not lacking in talent.

Has it been confirmed Chris Faagutu has actually left? He could be on a train and trial deal?
I think he could have been a really good player with patience much better then Kit.
I am hoping he is still here.

It was stated on his profile - Faagutu will join the club's Top 30 next season and is contracted to Wests Tigers until the end of the 2025 season.

Our club has 1 huge problem , coming last 3 years in a row .
we need to unload players to give spots to NRL ready players who will make a difference straight away,
Luai , Bird , Hunt , Turuva are all experienced first graders but we still need more as we have been so weak a team the only way up is to buy it , Roosters style , buy a comp , it will cost us players like Chis and Miller but we just can’t keep doing the same thing over and over , no finals footy for over 10 years just proves the direction we took was poor , coaches were poor , recruitment was a disgrace , but you can’t recruit good players to last placed teams very easy .
we start now and buy players to move us up the ladder , definitely run our pathways but lock in only the guns , this would be 1 to 2 of the best young guys the rest we prove it or lose it . Galvin is your perfect young gun a lot of the others are not that good , we just locked in another just recent so that’s 2 .
we need
Naden , Bud , Matta , Tumeth all gone asap
we need
May and Kobe asap
i would also be looking at Mays brother who if wins his court battle would be another good get .
then look at another player who is a solid NRL player held back due to competition in his current team

If it helps the club better themselves what’s the difference, I just thought I would throw it out there
If I was a third party sponsor and I knew that they needed to clear a few spots in the top 30 I'd have no problem paying players out for the club as BP says it's benefiting the club.

Our club is certainly not "John West", more like Aldi

If you’re not overly mobile , and athletic / strong through your legs , then being small is a huge deterrent . Especially when it comes to projection . It’s why big players with big arses are given a lot more latitude to develop because you have a higher ceiling .
It’s just genetics . Smaller = lower power . Unless you’re a victor radley power to weight ratio freak .
It’s not to say these players don’t exist eg. Tedesco , but they’re usually really fast , and dynamic .
This isn’t to say Faagatu isn’t that player , but he is small ,and so is Kit . Plus the rumours about him having some huge question marks on whether his body is up to it … I dunno .
The club might have lost thier mind . It wouldn’t be the first time .
But maybe they haven’t . Maybe Faagatu would be better served returning home , and going through the grind of QLD cup and developing much slower / part time .
Because being small and being a forward , is not exactly a recipe for success . And yes there are exceptions .

I’m not entirely sure what there is to say and what your issue is. maybe look back thru the thread?

Taylan is clearly a grub, but he’s been charged, not proven guilty.

that said, given he’s breached an AVO amidst the investigation I don’t want him anywhere near the club.

I was making the point that the indiscretions of NAS and Munster pale in comparison.
I was of the impression that you were talking about his brother and his possible departure from the Roosters. If I was incorrect, I apologise.

Seeing him play schoolboys, he was that player similar to Victor Radley, Cameron Murray, etc. leg power was one of his biggest assets and he knew how to use it. Which is why again I wonder if it was a case of our system not working or if it was something else
