That would actually make a large difference to contact between players and is something i suggested on here a few years ago.Collisions would have far less impact

With how good most defences are these days, a 5m rule would just end up a slogfest.
Kicking would have to be excellent if you wanted to get downfield.

The game should become more skilful to break down defences as these days it is mainly just a "power" game.

Youre not breaking down today's defences with no room. Line speed alone is extremely fast compared with the last time they had the 5m rule in place

I used to think this, not so sure anymore. We just need more top quality sportsmen in the NRL. Why does Aussie Rules exist? Seriously man. It's probably the devil playing with us.
