Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Credit where it’s due .., A few months back ..you actually predicted they would go down this tougher preseason route.., and that they would be prepared to use it to force guys out of the club.. 👍…can’t remember anyone else agreeing with you at the time ..

let’s hope that they can actually get some of the malcontents off the team before the season starts …
Mate, have been banging on about a strong CEO for years on here , feels good to finally see things coming to fruition.

What has he done in the last couple of months?

- As you said, signed Bird and Hunt.
- Opened up 2 roster spots through the sacking of Miller and the payout of Fa'agutu.
- Entered talks with both Hetherington and May. The former of which was ultimately denied a release (so far) by his current club and the latter being yet to make a decision.
- Given 5 players official warnings regarding pre-season return fitness, therefore establishing baseline standards that seem above what we've seen in the past.
- Continued discussions around moving on further players considered surplus to requirements including Sullivan, who has been confirmed as being rejected by Saints for a homecoming and Bateman to Manly, which sounds like it's still to play out.

Should I go on?
No but still what has he done on the recruitment side , other club are signing players left and right but the wooden spooner , just sit back and don’t improve

He gets bagged because we couldn't defend to save ourselves
It's not just that.

If our defense sucked, but our attack was on target. Then I would say he is doing something.

We scored 463 points. The worst in the league.
While Olam had some injuries.. Really our injuries were not too bad.

Then yes, our defense SUCKED!

What we have seen is Craig F and Ciraldo improve the Sharks and Dogs defense immensily.
We will see Jason Ryles do the same at Parra.
Benji has failed to impart skills that will build this team.

So your argument is, basically:

'Look, apart from Jerome Luai and Sunia Turuva and Jack Bird and Royce Hunt and Jeral Skelton and going after Kobe Hetherington and Terrell May and already clearing two roster spots and still being in talks to clear further roster spots.....what has Richardson done for recruitment in the 11 months he's been here?!'

Nothing mate. He's done absolutely nothing. We should sack him.

Dont think this forum could ever totally agree on something- anything

Mam - 12 weeks.

Hey Madge, wanna swap Hetherington for Sullivan or Doueihi for the season?
That is just speculation on what the NRL may hand down at this stage, as per Fox Sports.

However, if that ends up being close to the mark and he gets 12 weeks for driving, under the influence, unlicensed and causing a head-on with another vehicle that contained a child, who suffered injuries, he would've been better off walking and yelling a name at the kid in the car instead...

...would've only got 8 weeks.

More to this, maintaining or even improving fitness, strength in the off season speaks to a players motivations. Players who can generate that intrinsic motivation to improve without having to be directly supervised or have extrinsic threats or rewards hanging over their heads are far more likely to succeed. Its all about the process, rather than outcomes
Attitude of the positive variety.
Goes without saying, I hope I don't upset anyone stating the obvious

I'd be happy with 2-4. Its better than our usual 0-6...
Is it all results though?
We could be 0&6 yet playing really well and have been very unlucky.... Or win quite a few of those first games with arse luck and a lot of ref's calls... A bit like that year ( maybe 2018) we won 5/6 and storm twice Roosters etc... We then went. To crap

I'd hope a bit of both
