Top 4? Are we really?
I think our purchases so far will get us off the bottom. We may even leave the dreaded bottom 4.
The top 4 is a lot further away than just recruitment.
We have to fix every aspect of our collective gameplay just to make the 8.
Think about our defence, discipline and kick chase as examples.
We have a Looooong way to go yet.
A guy like Luai should improve a lot of that. Senior players need to set the standard of effort and I can’t see him taking the piss.

I honestly do not get the TWAL hatred on this forum .. in a terrible team with players that had no ability to give him good call he has consistently carried the ball forward from awkward positions all on his lonesome.. he has also almost never missed a tackle , though he wish he would hit a bit harder and throw them on the ground a bit more .. still, given some good ball he can really be part of a pack that gets over the advantage line
Hatred is a strong word but I disagree with pretty much all your points regarding his qualities. I don't think he consistently carried the ball forward. I guess he did but he did so with no attacking upside. No post contact metres, no quick play the ball, no offload and no passing at the line. Just an ordinary hit up and slow play the ball every time.
Yes, he has high tackle efficiency but again that is all he offers in defence. He has no line speed, no wrestle and is slow off the ground to get back to marker or back in the line. As you say he doesn't hit hard or get players to the ground. I'd even wager that opposition forwards target him as it is maximises their running metres and ensures they get a reasonable play the ball against a defensive line that is short Twal still on the ground.

He does offer that consistent, gets through his work performance but he is behind Klemmer, Seyfarth and now May in that regard.

The Broncos hierarchy would have to be about 30 drinks deep to agree on something like that.
I don’t think it’s so far fetched.

We’d obviously have to pay a certain amount to help get the deal done and Brisbane are quite thin with their back row depth, on top of that Madge has worked with him before and sees some potential value there. They’re also are in desperate need for some grunt and mongrel in that squad and it’s safe to admit Bateman provides that.

If we can capture Hetherington’s signing for 2026. I don’t think Brisbane would be closed off to a trade and for the right $ it makes sense both ways.

I have to clarify I’m not saying this is a done deal by any stretch - but something that’s being put out there.
