Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sullivan is the only one I actually feel for. He has never spat the dummy, has always said he wants to stay and earn a spot. He isn't going to get it with us, but at least his attitude is right.
In the one training session I saw last year most players were at half pace while he was very active and high speed (Api also trained with intensity). Then after the session he was one of few still on the ground and stayed back to work on goal kicking. He was also collecting his own balls after kicking while two trainers were having a lovely little chat at halfway.

Man thats bullshit ! I was anti AD when the circle jerk was going on , and everyone was calling him the captain of the future .
His defence is shit because he doesn’t use his shoulder and shirks contact .
It’s why he got in a lot of trouble for shoulder charges on covering tackles .
He won’t put his body in front of the opposition . Until the day where he does that , everyone is going to have something to say about a 195cm 100kg ripped dude , basically dogging it at times !
It’s harsh but fair reality . If you dared criticise this guy at the time , you were a brooks fanboy , and a loser . That was the narrative about the huge flaws this let’s face it , giant of a guy , who looks like Tarzan and defends like Jane .
Absolutely 💯 every word of this.. him and Stefano next to each other was like the entrance to Luna park ..

There are plenty of blokes who have played plenty of NRL who were iffy in defence but bring other skills to the table. My point is he is not burning a hole in our cap and will do a better job than depth players we have used in the past. Also maybe being in a better side might just help his defence
Still need a level of commitment and desire that I just don't see.

Don't see if Bateman doesn't find another club, how we're not stuck with him. Unless we just pay out his contract and release him. I'd assume in that scenario unless a third party provides the money his 1.3 million will come off our cap over the next 2 years.
Proposed idea: “The Bateman Sponsor”. A company pays whatever Bateman is being paid out + a bit extra. Doesn’t get a spot on our jersey, but gets full credit for Bateman leaving, gets a full thank you off the club and added to our sponsor list for the 2 years he’s still on the cap. Added as a significant, non-jersey sponsor while 95% of our club fans will love the company and other nrl fans laugh and ultimately bring attention to this funny, ego killing move

I... I just couldn't see Madge doing it.

Brisbane need a stop-gap 5/8.

Jayden Sullivan and/or Doueihi fit that bill, loosley.

Surely Madge would raid the Broncos jnr talent pool OR Newcastle instead?
Im pretty Sure that Ben Hunt will be announced V Soon to rejoin the Broncos.

Ezra will be away from NRL for ages and deservedly so

Enough recruitment for now.

Absolute priority - 100% focus on retention of Galvin.
Richo mentioned in the podcast Behind the roar that he would be meeting with Galvin (and his parents) next year.

“And we've decided to sit down and talk with Seyfar after Christmas, which he's really happy about extending himself. And obviously, we're working closely with Galv and his family and his agent about extending him in the new year. So we'll work through that as the year goes on.”

don’t be surprised if Brisbane have to shed a player to fit Hunt in.

he can take a paycut all he likes, but the NRL determines a value of a player and that is the figure that is attributed to a club’s cap, not how much he is paid.

Ben Hunt is worth $700k at least, not $500k, which is roughly how much Brisbane have to spare currently.

I think there’s still a chance @teddy23 ’s rumour comes to fruition and Madge opts to swap Hetherington for Bateman at half price to give them an additional $200k to get Hunt across the line.

I’ll be keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed 🤞🏻

It is Brisbane so i am sure that the NRL will continue to give them a sweetheart deal just like they do with their games being on a friday night and the magic weekend always being an away game for them giving them an extra home game each year. The NRL will look after them

That scrum move with a min to go against the chooks still haunts me.. when Braith kicked the miracle field goal .. WTF was Robbie thinking??!🤨 ☹️
Agree 100%. I too still have nightmares about Farah insisting he should feed the scrum against the Chooks in 2010 semi. Threw it carelessly into a tangle of legs and lost the scrum!! He had one job - 35 seconds to go - don’t lose the scrum. And yet he did. And then blamed everyone else.

He did it again 12 months later against the Warriors. We were leading by 2 points with 2 mins to go in the semi and on the last tackle instead of kicking to their try line he ran a blind side play and got caught with the ball on half way line. I was at the game and everyone was screaming “kick it! Kick it!” So stupid. Just super dumb - total lack of smart leadership. So instead of having to run it from their own try line the Warriors got the ball on halfway and scored and we lost another unlosable game - all because of Farah.

Robbie’s brain melts under pressure. Always did. Yet he never took responsibility. He lost us 2 premierships. We should have won both 2010 and 2011.

i still think there is 4 clubs wanting Hunt, both Sydney clubs waiting for a medium price before last pitch, not for a minute do i believe the roosters arent in the hunt.1 thing is sure Hunt lost a lot of coin leaving the Dragons whilst all this unfold;s isnt being payed a cent

Apparently Alex Johnston is testing the market and Souths won't stand in way if he wants out next season.

He's coming off injury and turning 30 next season. While he's definitely a better option than Staines, he'll probably want three years at above average coin.
