Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Regarding Souths- I highly doubt they are looking to move their star players on. Arrow will play prop I imagine. Duncan possibly as well. Murray & Koloamatangi are locked in- probably second row & lock. Add Bateman.

Euan Aitken probably gets a bench spot. Moale. Tatola.

I'd say Liam Le Blanc & Jacob Host could be the likely guys to miss out.

That said- if Bateman goes, Sione Fainu is likely to get that spot.

Maybe it's a T&T player we are likely to target? There's always Liam Knight...

So if Bateman goes to Souths, it would appear they have a bit of a glut of 2RWs.
Koloamatangi, Arrow, Host, Duncan, Murray (potentially Schuster).
Would we be happy with the advertised release of Bateman (incl paying $300k of salary for next 2 years) if Souths offered Tallis Duncan in return?
They won't

My last word on this , luai, if Pascoe had done this there would have been people screaming for his head , but because it’s Richo he seems to get a pass . It’s a done deal just dirty the fans where left in the dark about his 5 years , great start to our new culture
I think people are pretty reasonable all things considered.

If you get 9 out of 10 things right, most won't harp on about the 1 they get wrong.

The old administration was all round atrocious. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

On the whole, I can't think of another available CEO that could have turned this roster around so quickly.

To be honest, I am not that phased. When Luai signed, he did so to a club that had just collected 2 wooden spoons and a roster that did not look likely to improve any time soon. His manager probably did the right thing here.

When he signed, we did not have any of Turuva, May, Hunt, Bird. The uncertainty over Stefano was already out in the media at this stage. Galvin hadn't stepped foot on an NRL field. Samuela Fainu was simply an add on to bring Latu to the club. No one else of his calibre even wanted to take the punt on coming aboard. The roster is looking far better since last January.

He will put 100% on the field and I can't see him signing anywhere on November 1. He will give it a red hot crack and if we can't sort our shit out and show improvement over the next 2 years...then maybe he wasn't the answer anyway and the club is stuffed anyway. If we show improvement and are at least pushing to a top 8 spot, he will remain.

Luai is a Tiger in 2025...let's focus on that! Onwards and upwards!
Luai is here to prove he can be the main man, he can run his show and be elite. He's not leaving anytime soon, he just wants to be able to renegotiate his deal for a payrise when tv deal kicks in.

Why are there so many sensationalists on here?

Would we prefer there were no clauses, sure. Was that an option? Seemingly not. If he was going to have the clauses regardless of which club he was at then it's just a non-event. Just clickbait bs from the media.

If Bateman is due back on a certain date then he is due back , but flying across the world for one day then going back so he can spend time with his family is a bit ruff and as said others would see this and go geezus that’s a stinker , but I’ve heard on hear the players association has confirmed he is not due back until after Xmas , again only hear say , maybe Richo can clarify it or Benji can clarify it at some point , Benji was all over what’s been said about him and John is false , no blow up etc , I gotta a feeling Benji has said to John you play like that again ( poorly and il drop you , John said we il,be next to half the team then if that how it is , Stef , John , Sezer , Naden , API at times , all played shit
What I don't get with Bateman is that his wife is here in Australia. Presumably his chid is with his wife here too.

What family is it he's spending his time with? Does he have one wife in Australia and one in the UK?? WHy is he so desperate to avoid spending time with his missus?

1) I don't think anyone has a right to know the employment contract provisions of anyone - just because you are a supporter gives you no greater right to a persons private work contract than anyone else.
2) It's not up to the club/player to divulge the details of a contract to anyone outside the contracting parties.
3) love this forum - part way through a psychology degree and this place tops anything my tutors have seen.

Thanks

this was the issue to begin with !

WT will have this hanging over their heads for as long as JL is here 😂

The media doesn’t care about Brown at Parra
That was a deal done by Pascoe and Sheens - what relevance does it have to where we are now. It is also a mutual option so Bula needs to perform before we decide to take it up. It is simply a non event that we as supporters give air time to. The media will care about Brown as soon as something happens with either him or Moses - simply the nature of the beast.

It was done years ago … but just news worthy now? Why is that ?

I haven’t even read the article as yet … just reacting to what you said earlier

Let’s all be honest

This sucks so hard

It’s a sh’t position for the club

They’ll be speculation every year about whether luai stays or leaves

Is it worth it by having him instead of him going to the bulldogs - probably

That’s all there is to it
Maybe for you. I think its pretty good. In fact. Keep us on our toes. This ain't a retirement village afterall.

That’s pretty offensive . Calling people trained seals like you’re the oracle ? You’re a bit of a dickhead to be honest mate . You don’t even know anything about the game .
Just bitching constantly .
I take offense to your bullshit . Imagine thinking being the contrarian all the time over everything is a good thing ! It just makes you a punish .
The arrogance to even validate your existence that way .
You’re confusing pragmatism and the critical thinking with perpetual disagreement as some kind of virtue .
Hot tip ! It’s absolutely not ! Sometimes , in fact most times I’ve found that irrational confidence in something or someone makes all the difference . You can almost will something into existence .
Being a perpetual Daria is hardly an awesome to get about your existence .
Just hit ignore button on him.
You’ll have a much better time of it reading comments without his crap.

Star player’s agent swap could have impact on Tigers’ future

By Michael Chammas
December 6, 2024 — 3.45pm

The agent whose players’ moves helped dismantle the Wests Tigers’ roster seven years ago is on the verge of adding Jahream Bula to his list of clients alongside Lachlan Galvin.

A day after this masthead’s revelation that incoming superstar recruit Jarome Luai has player options in the final three years of his five-year contract, the Tigers are now bracing for one of their brightest young talents to join the Isaac Moses stable.

Moses and the Wests Tigers don’t see eye-to-eye and tension is already high due to a standoff involving another Moses client, John Bateman. Complicating matters further is the situation with Galvin, following multiple requests from his agent Moses for a release during the past 12 months.

The young fullback has been on the lookout for a new agent after his former manager, Liam Ayoub, recently accepted a role with the Canterbury Bulldogs in the club’s recruitment department.

As reported by this masthead in October last year, Bula has a mutual option in his contract for the 2027 season. If the Tigers decide to exercise the option, he will play the 2027 season on a salary of $900,000. If the Tigers decide against retaining Bula at that price, Bula has the opportunity of taking up a player option at $800,000.

Moses, however, will not earn any income from a contract negotiated by another agent and would only earn a percentage of Bula’s pay if he were to negotiate a new contract with the Tigers or a rival club. That conversation will have to occur some time in 2026, which happens to be both Luai and Galvin’s final year on contract.

The Tigers have met with Galvin’s family and are preparing to sit down in the new year to discuss the possibility of a long-term extension. Moses’ involvement is a hurdle the Tigers will have to overcome.

Moses’ most significant previous involvement with the Tigers was overseeing negotiations for the club’s “big four” stars in 2017, when James Tedesco departed for the Sydney Roosters, Aaron Woods linking with the Bulldogs and Mitchell Moses agitated for an early release to join Parramatta. Luke Brooks was the only member of the quartet to remain at the Tigers.

Bateman is unwanted at Concord following a heated argument with coach Benji Marshall over what the Englishman believed was improper treatment following a loss to South Sydney last season.

Bateman took exception to a post-match dressing down from Marshall and confronted the coach about it at training in the ensuing days.

The spat culminated in Bateman departing the club for a stint in the Super League with Warrington for the remainder of the 2024 season, on the condition the Tigers committed to uphold the 2025 and 2026 seasons of his contract.

The Tigers have offered to pay up to $350,000 of his $650,000-a-season contract for Bateman to play elsewhere.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs are deep in negotiations to lure him to the club in Wayne Bennett’s first year back after a stint at the Dolphins.

He has also previously overseen the contracts of the likes Tommy Talau, Adam Blair, Matt Lodge and David Klemmer at the club.

Moses also represents young Tigers player Brandon Tumeth, who recently had an official warning revoked over preseason fitness standards.
