OFFICIAL Terrell May #296

Does this mean player profiles have been updated?

No don't think so last time I checked. Going back
to this thread, I got to thinking on how everyone was
saying something must be up 4 the chooks to just
tap him on the shoulder after recently extending
him (with a phone call on tour mind you). The real
question is how they were able to get away with
doing that to someone with anther 2/3 years left
on their contract before they're able to renegotiate?
Wish we were able to tap some guys on the shoulder
without giving any specific reason or without a media
inquest. We benefited so I don't mind, but it's puzzling.

It doesn't make sense that this guy recently signs
an extension for 2 years and the players association
and media go radio silent. What a load of bullshit.
Named as impact player of the year for the RLPA
dream team of the year & nothing from them. Terrell
is a stand up guy though, i wouldn't put it past him
just moving on from it & not getting them involved.

Edit: glad they missed out on Hunt the shifty kents

I guess the difference is when choosing to let someone go mid contract, they chose to let go someone in demand they knew would get multiple offers higher than the one they are currently on. The player is less likely to complain if they are now making 100k a year more than they were.

We try and let go of guys that would be lucky to get a top 30 spot and would be on substantially less coin. So of course they say no I’m staying I’ve got a contract.

Not many in the roosters top 30 that wouldn’t get a run somewhere else, but on the occasion they sign a dud, they usually just let the contract expire.

Good points you raise Bob, and I can see why he
wouldn't mind leaving (more money etc) but the
question of legality & whether it was ethically right
will be left unanswered it seems. He had a contract
& young family, did nothing wrong. Bit shit from Easts

Yeah agree. Certainly don’t like the fact that the roosters essentially let the rumour mill run for a week or so before shutting it down. They usually were a club that looked after its past players if they were tapped on the shoulder.

In their roster May was the quickest and easiest player to let go.
He would also get an upgrade
Had only just renewed so would likely have clubs interested that still haven’t filled the vacancy
Less team disruption as he’s not been with them long
Hunt by far would win them more games than May
They already have Collins as their tier 1 prop
It’s not a nice situation but we all know easts make the brutal call in regards to trying to win
Pearce/ Cronk a prime example

Enjoyed listening to May …very optimistic about him … he is certainly saying all the right things…

on the other hand … can’t say I enjoyed listening to Graham … its hard work with his stammering and awkward pauses …. Seems to also want to ask a question and then inject his own experiences each time … he is often talking more than May …

I still have an awkward feeling that the Roosters know something that may come out in the future.
It was just too weird given they lost their alpha in JWH.

Whatever the reason…. As discussed in the chat ..they certainly didn’t do May any favours releasing him when they did…only a few months after re-signing him…

The failure of Cheese, and the signing of Robson is the catalyst, i believe.
2025 is the season Chooks to get their ducks in a row for 2026> and moving May "not necessary" was just a strategic chess move.

May & Sualli'i are gone, Brandon Smith being moved on.

Leniu & Whyte stay.

Not saying this IS the reason, but it did cause a bit of a stir.

No doubt he'll be out starting prop, but thought he did his best work off the bench for Roosters this year. Wouldn't mind seeing him come into the game after 20 mins and play the rest of the game out

Thought Benji got out prop rotation wrong a lot this year. Using Pole and a work horse and Twal as a bench impact prop seems very backwards.

Has incredible fitness for a prop, fully capable of playing 80 minutes if necessary. Very happy we signed him and sounds extremely motivated for success.
