Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tone what down?

Calling out a virtue signalling clown who is labelling other posters “misogynistic” for the unforgivable crime of not following WNRL? Do you think that’s an appropriate reason to throw around that label?

Unless you’re also prepared to call out that BS, step off.
This is misrepresenting what was said. No-one got called misogynistic for not following NRLW - the comment (which I don't actually agree with, as it happens) was about someone who claimed literally not to have ever heard the name of the Tigers' most famous women's player. Those are two different things.

As I said in another comment (which I note none of the anti-woke warriors have responded to): I personally don't follow NRLW, and no-one has ever or would ever call me a misogynist for that, even though I've never made a secret of it. I am, however, a Tigers fan and therefore having a vague awareness of who a couple of our women's players are seems to be around the same level of fandom as, say, knowing that they train at Concord. I guess it's possible to literally never have heard of any of the women's players but while I wouldn't say someone who hasn't is a misogynist it seems a bit performative at this stage.

It's interesting to me that the people who are most likely to talk about "virtue signalling" or "woke snowflakes" are also the ones who are most inclined to have an attack of the vapours and go down clutching their pearls whenever any faint criticism comes their way. No-one is forcing you to like women's football, mate. You're all good. Have a lie down and think about Blocker Roach.

I love it when people bag the women’s game and say it’s low quality and crap without ever watching it haha
I enjoy watching the tigers nrlw team but we are in trouble if we don’t recruit a fullback
I’m guessing you are attempting to have a dig at me for saying ‘low quality’ but you are taking it out of context. I specifically said the origin games are low quality because they play it as a pre season game instead of half way through the year like the men’s. Id expect a low quality, error riddled game if they started playing the men’s as a pre season cup as well. All I’m saying is it seems bizarre that they play their biggest games of the year with no game time fitness

Why do people like the women’s State of Origin? It’s usually an error riddled low quality couple of games. I would put the blame of this on the people who decided it was a good idea to have their biggest games of the year before playing any regular season games… bizarre decision to me
Little to no wrestle

that’s horseshit , and narrative spin . 2 people called a guy out , for not knowing who Bo is , and either in 1 case alluded to sexism misogyny and the in the other outright said it .
You can’t twist it both ways . An apology was/ is in order . If they’d have said something messed up , I would agree , but he didn’t . At best the guys are jumping at shadows , at worst it’s white knighting and virtue signalling .
That’s what happened ! Go back and read ! There’s no other interpretation , and disingenuous posts that round about spin the outcome so your particular ideology is the morally superior , doesn’t help the matter !

Yes, I'm aware of all that. What didn't happen was anyone being called sexist "for not liking NRLW" or whatever alternative version of reality is being applied to allow the deployment of the standard, tedious victim complex.

This is now the third time I've said this: I personally don't follow NRLW - I've watched a handful of games and been to one, and I don't get anything much out of it. No-one has called me sexist, and I strongly suspect no-one is going to do so. That's because no-one is saying not being interested in NRLW is in and of itself sexist. That's my point, it's the only point I'm making and it's the only one I'm going to get drawn into addressing.

Considering the men’s game has been around for over a century and the women’s game has been around for what? 5 years? I can understand people not being that invested in it at this stage. Certainly nothing misogynistic about that. Hopefully people’s interest will increase over time as the women’s game progresses.

Any signings, rumours or suggestions?
Nothing public anyway- we just have to hope backroom progress is being made with the Bateman situation. I think it was Richardson who said January brings another round of player shuffling between clubs so lets keep fingers crossed. Somewhere also recently there was some form of quote / info that if no shuffling happens at that stage the club will look at ending some contracts of lower hanging fruit eg Tumuth / Sukkar / Naden to create room. Miller is already gone- just now legally working out how much $$$ involved. Next one gone should make room for Fainu currently on T&T and then assume another spot needed for another backrower. But reckon nothing public until mid January.

Will be a somewhat frustrating month to come. Still, Im very pleased with our situation this year vs last year this time of year.
