Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Was only an arm grabbing turnstile in defence, but in most evaluations on this forum, like the club itself, it seems attack is the only side of the ball that’s important.

These young kids need to work for it, and they need to realise that strolling over for tries like they did easily in the junior grades doesn’t happen at NRL level. And the guys that excel in the top tier are just as good at defending as they are at attacking.
After watching the nsw cup our kids can’t or don’t want to tackle, they were a disgrace, but the coach needs to take just as much blame

He signed $2.4m over 4 years so that's $600k a year. We are apparently happy to pay him out $900k.

So you'd suggest we pay $300k & Souths get him for $300k. Fair deal if you ask me. I would hope they'd be paying $350k.

But hey it's a spot we need vacant & we have more than enough halves depth now.
The $300 we contribute comes out of our cap?…that’s $300x3 years…Sheez

He may have even had periods in the middle this year. Spent a lot of games coming off the bench. Lucas and KPP are their guys now.

Spent 2 games off the bench… Hardly alot.

Issue we have is needing right edge players.

I’m a fan of Frizzel & he is a right side player (we don’t have one) but he is slowing down and fast.
In 24 he was being found out at marker alot which wasn’t a good sign.

Positive is he would give Galvin/Toa some experience inside which we need.

I could see the benefit optics wise & for the right price. But I don’t think he is the right fit for us.

If he’s being moved to the middle at his current club , I’d be reluctant to even look at him . An absolute legend back a few years ago , but as an edge ,my guess is you’d sign him , and then regret it later and have to blood a kid . Now you have to play to him in the middle and take up a roster spot you originally had designated to someone else .
I actually think the panthers might have this problem with Ice in 25 .
It’s hard to know if it was diabolical coaching , lack of desire/ apathy , bad culture , or simply he’s no longer an edge forward . Most would lean towards “Clubs Fault” but I’m not 💯 convinced .
Maybe the eels saw it first which is why they let us have him in the first place …

Yep plus whatever we top up Bateman with as well.

Been said before Panthers when Gould came along paid $1m for players playing elsewhere. The cap was much smaller then.

We will likely be paying $600-$650K for Sullivan & Bateman.

But remember currently Galvin in $250K in 2025. Unless he upgrades & extends.

Swings & round abouts.

Disagree. Good enough. Old enough.

The only way to get experience in a role is to do it.

Much like knocking Benji as a head coach, there is no better experience than doing the job.

We have already lost Large. Cant lose Big Mak.
Your spot on Tito . Im sure Mak is expecting a bit of a taste of first grade, and im sure our coaching staff a better equipped than any of us to decide if hes ready. Out of curiosity people saying he needs to wait because of his age whats the age limit you think a player is ready. Mate thru my boxing gym i got kids of all ages and some are men at 17 some are babies. It comes down to the people that work with him on a daily basis wether to decide if hes ready. Thats why we have a coach. You obviously dont have any faith in any of the coaching staff including Richo if you blokes are in a better position or have more knowledge on the young blokes development and making a call from behind a computer all over the state. Smh. You imagine the outrage if we lost him to another club who promises him a FG debut, ala Large.

Whatever we burn through for Sullivan and Bateman, hopefully it can be confined to our cap for this year. With a couple of targeted signings, we should be making a push for top 4 in 2026
