People may recall I recently posted a suggestion we go further with the Outlaw / Bushranger theme / symbol to get over the symbolism of previous clubs- Tiger and Magpie. Im sorry but I feel at present if we get rid of the Magpie at KOE and its all Tiger, Ive lost something. Im not pressing, or wanting Magpie at NRL but whats wrong with giving a dog a bone with the Magpie at KOE level? If we loose the Magpie at KOE level I'd be really thinking about a new symbol- as I said I like the Bushranger. Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.

AND back to the thread point, yes something has to be done about the Board and hold their feet to the fire until these 3 independents are announced and in place.

I understand that ! Totally . But my kids don’t . Anyone under 30
Doesn’t ! And the club is thiers ! And as such they have no even knowledge who Balmain and the magpies are .
Your nostalgia for a dead club , is undermining the loyalty and future nostalgia of kids coming through to wests tigers .
If they’re playing for Balmain and a magpies that means that thier first exposure to a wests tigers jersey is in u21s . So basically 19 year olds .
You know what 19 year olds have ? Already formed opinions . Already formed ideals and already formed loyalties .
the panthers on the other hand have kids wear a panthers jersey at 14 and train next or the nrl club on the same fields . In the same gyms .
The same things that you are clinging to , are the same things holding the club back .

OK then if the Tigers / Magpie symbol causes such division, lets go to another symbol - not Tiger / Magpie then- both Tigers and Magpies are dead then as old ARL clubs happy???????????????????? With that Im getting out of this thread. Bye

There already is one . It’s called Wests Tigers ! And a kid who grows up in five dock , can only ever really aspire to wear a Balmain Jersey .
Same for a kid who grows up in Bradbury can only aspire to wests magpies jersey .
If it’s a wests tigers jersey , they’re now wearing the same jersey as thier hero’s , and there’s a clear link there and love for the jersey . And a symbolic way to bond when the cubs programs are run during the offseason .
The very same link that you would have to the magpies jersey .

After 25 years, I must say, that I truly find the whole Balmain/Wests thing tiresome.

Am I surprised that it is still a thing? Nope.

How could I be when it is seared into my memory coming home on the bus from the best night of my life (excluding the birth of my daughters) - Sunday October 2, 2005 - that all I heard was an old dinosaur complain about the size of his old teams logo on the jersey of the winning team. Champ, you had just won the freaking Premiership and that's what you want to talk about? Not about the flick pass or Patty Richards swatting away the puny little Cowboy man to score the try?

Now please dont go me Magpie people, there are plenty of crusty old Balmain dinosaurs out there too and I am sure that you can give the forum an anecdote from your experience. I only refer to it because they are the problem: the dinosaurs of Balmain and Wests.

I will not wear my Balmain jersey to a Wests Tigers game. My team is the Wests Tigers. Has been since 2000.

Anyways, that's my little rant for the day.

After three spoons, I am excited about 2025. Hopefully we can start winning games and these sort of issues get put where they belong: into the bin.

(I can understand why some debentures may have been issued in 1996 but that doesn't explain why they still exist or why there would be any need to transfer them or issue any new ones.)​

My understanding of debentures is simply unsecured loans to companies and businesses that are paid dividends annually. They have been used in the licensed club industry for many years as a way of raising capital.

If anything, the most experienced sports administrators on the Board appear to be casualties of the process (as you have noted), particularly when Julie Romero (from insurance) is the current Chair and Denny Burgess (failed muso) is the Deputy, and they appear the least qualified to continue to lead.

Sooooo.....you're saying throughout all the problems since 2016 there's a common denominator?

You're right though. The details don't matter. It's the same people that have taken us from chaos to chaos. Ultimately, something with these people is creating issues and they just need to go.
 
The Nrl should come out and make a statement to stop this

They said before it's a West Tigers NRL licence and all the NRL licences are renewed every 5 or 7 years I can not remember each one it is


If it's not the West Tigers we will offer the NRL licence to Norths and have them play out of Perth and move Canterbury closer to Liverpool

Just sick of the old Farts causing trouble

G'day diedpretty...and the only people from outside our club that could well be causing destabilization [if that is the case] amongst the board are Balmain people like Benny Elias, Danny Stapleton and the wiggliest wiggle of all being the Blue Wiggle.
I would have thought that 2 supposedly intelligent people and Benny Elias, would realise when you do dumb acts like this, yuh gunna cause unwanted conflict among a certain amount of people.
But in saying that, there are posters on here that very seldom appear until there is a breakout of conflict and that brings out the best, or worst in them...weird!

New licenses have just been signed and last for the next 10 years.

Literally in the last couple of weeks, they were due to be signed last off season but an agreement couldn't be reached so they extended the old ones to this season.

There hasn't been an announcement but I saw it in an article in the last couple of days that the new agreements are in place.

Yep. Wonder through if they typically come with a board seat?

There are some interesting rules in the clubs legislation that i think they are breaking. Particularly around personal gain and that the same opportunity is not offered to ordinary members (since its capped to 20).

Is anyone here a lawyer that can have a look at the clubs act? Maybe we could send it onto Lee as I'm sure he'd love a chat with them.
