T20 franchise cricket is a blight on the game .

I don't think that its these guys don't care. Its just more about making a comfortable living off cricket as a 2nd tier player which has never been possible in the history of the game.

Test cricket has been changed forever, but there is a middle ground to be found with some these guys, they can do both as both England and India are showing

Has been that way for years. There must be some kind of data to support it but its so frustrating to watch
 
I don’t think India would have minded batting again. Another 70 odd overs tomorrow would have broke Starc and Cummins in half.

Agree , Break Starc and Cummins and we lose the series
Need a fully fit Starc and Cummins and Boland at the MCG
We need a spinner who looks more effective than Lyon

I been saying pick this guy as his hand eye coordination is elite
Plus he bats with intent which McSweeney doesn't
Given the obvious draw at the Gabba partly because of the weather and partly
Selections then we must make no compromises for the MCG
IMHO- id pick Konstas , Boland ,Murphy and Webster
Replacing McSweeney ,Hazelwood ,Lyon and Marsh
Reasons -Konstas is a more talented batsman , Shield ,PM'S 11 centuries
Even 50 off 20 only BBL game
Boland at MCG needs no explanation
Lyon just doesn't look like getting wickets ( i was entirely due Smith)
Marsh cant bowl much ,We need a back up bowler

Problem however is our selectors and Andrew McDonald will never admit they got anything wrong so I predict
McSweeney will get out to Bumrah at MCG for a low score
Lyon will get 1-2 wickets at MCG or maybe 0
Marsh will bowl 2 overs and not many runs with the bat

Don't get carried away with relative success in Brisbane which due to
Head ,Smith ,Carey , Starc and Cummins and NO ONE ELSE !
 
Captain Pat has got to stop putting everyone on the boundary and bowling nothing but bouncers
It failed in England and in Brisbane
Sometimes I wonder whether Carey would be a better captain
 
Lyon couldn't get the last wicket but Head did with just 5 balls !
With all the physical stress on Starc and Cummins I think its a disgrace that Marsh only bowled 2 overs in the innings
I heard Marsh during an interview say he doesn't like bowling because it hurts ?
So missing Green who gives team balance we need to pick a like for like at no 6 either Beau Webster or is Nezer fit ?
If they make no changes except Boland for Melbourne then losing this series
is a real possibility

The criticism of Lyon is very harsh. He has taken 28 wickets at 22 in 2024. His role is also so often to tie up an end and bowl bulk overs for the quicks to rotate at the other end.

Think if selectors had their time over they would be picking Konstas over Mcweeney. Big innings coming up for Mcsweeney, needs to show something.

Webster for Marsh makes sense if Marsh cannot bowl.
 
At this point if Marsh isn't bowling and the selectors don't care about the lack of an all-rounder I'd look at moving Mcsweeney to 6 and bringing Konstas in to open.

It used to be if you were blooding a young player (even a 'top order' bat) they'd bat at 5 or 6 for a while to find their feet.

If they DO want an all-rounder Webster is in the form of his life - 'horses for courses' is part of selection supposedly?

Personally I'd want the extra bowler for Boxing Day given the recent history of boring/flat wickets at the MCG.

If Marsh can’t bowl he should be out.
They picked the wrong bloke in McS, but Hazo’s injury has cost us this test.
 
Love him as a player but can't see Khawaja playing test cricket beyond this series.

Marsh surely out of the starting side after his contributions so far.
 
Would be interesting if India were chasing 260 odd with about 50-55 overs if the weather holds up. Imagine losing from here.
 
It's going to bucket down again shortly so no risk of losing.

Again, big thanks to CA for messing with the established scheduling that worked very well for 30+ years.
 
Head goes for 16 suicidal batting now 6-60
Head and Carey trying to belt every ball for 4
Every batsman trying to smash it except McSweeney who was just trying to survive out for 4 off 25 balls
Declare 7-89 India need 275 off 54 overs very little chance of 54 overs
Dark skies on one side of the ground
