Taking a wrecking ball to the club! (Recent Media Reports)

Another guy that hated me lol

You weren't the most insufferable or intolerant mod in your time...

Hint:

But your activism to get the corporate governance of the Wests Tigers club into a degree of parity with the rest of the NRL after the Pascoe/Hagipantelis/Go debacle - has been outstanding & helped to achieve the new front office professionalism!

In that time (prior to the independent review) the HBG & WT Board sat on their hands while presiding over the slow moving train-wreck that massively devalued the WESTS TIGERS brand!

That alone is a blatant breach of their duties as Board members - but their blind faith in the former CEO and his co-dependent media-[This word has been automatically removed] Chair is more than enough evidence of their lack of judgement (even if one was to believe that they were acting in good faith for the interests of the WT NRL club that THEY OWN"!

If one was inclined to cast conspiracies - it could be postulated that the HBG intentionally devalued their NRL asset/brand...

But why would they do that?

Who has the power to remove / replace these board members in the future.
By a majority no-confidence vote of the other Board members?

Same as how the Chair or CEO can be removed in any private corporate entity!

And that should have been in the case of Pascoe/Hagipantelis many moons ago if the HBG Board had not either been asleep at the wheel - or complicit with their mismanagement with a view to devaluing the WT asset and brand!

Here here, you're 100% spot on wt..."in fact, I'd say most Balmain fans were pretty happy about being able to hold onto the Tigers name"[and colours] "it's the Magpies that were shafted in that regard". In other words, the Magpies lost 'their' name 'and' colours.

Just as I said in a post yesterday "THE MAGPIES LOST THEIR SOUL", and now it seems to me there is a push on to take away anything and everything that the Magpies have left.

And again, as I said yesterday the Magpies were left with owning 90% of WT's but in reality, that means zilch as you can't own 90% of a lost soul = 90% of nothing.

Wests Magpies didn't just gift Balmain 10% of the WT's, they gifted Balmain the whole friggin club.

And that's what I was conveying to cochise back in 2019 and he has put 💩 on me ever since.
My words to him then as I have already stated... "Balmain were vanquished due to owning only 10% of the club, while Wests Magpies were the victor in owning 90%, but it seemed to me like Balmain was the victor at the time as the Magpies had lost their soul".

A short while after my post in 2019 I did admit to using a bad choice of words which to a very staunch Balmain follower and Wests Magpies hater, may have sounded inflammatory, but the meaning of my words and the outcome that exists still today, is exactly the same.
In reality the Magpies, at that time, were happy to get anything…. they were gone.

I remember voting at balmain leagues club on the night, the news came through wests Magpies had overwhelmingly voted for merger and balmain club officials were hoping balmain would follow suit.
At the time the Magpies were on the bones of there backside

Then Laurie got up to speak

In the end it was the best option for both clubs to merge

Love this post.

Laurie died from a broken heart. You know how with couples who have been together for 50 years, as soon one dies, the other follows not long after. It’s because the surviving one doesn’t know how to go on. Balmain were the love of his life. I think that’s what happened to Laurie. Sure Balmain didn’t “die”, but it was enough to break him.

His spirit is alive and well on that Leichhardt hill.

Can never doubt Laurie's passion. I used to catch the Fish / Chips train to Springwood and often had many a conversation with Laurie. Damn, he would wear that singlet in the depths of a mountain's winter. One of life's experience's /people you meet moments you never forget. Wasnt he originally a wool classer then shifted on to the docks?

Yep. I'm an old Magpie but everyone loved Laurie. He was a true icon of the game. He was a bit like the guy who was inside the Magpie costume, Mark Wallington. He was hilarious.
