Cricket Season Thread

Safe to say India will bat for the draw. They don’t have to win. They might see the Aussie bowlers toiling all day on Day 5 with a short turnaround enough of a win.
FIrst session will be interesting. If it looks flat and they lose minimal wickets I reckon they will have a crack. They bat deep and guys like Jaiswal, Pant and jadeja can go at a good click

Possibly. If they are only 3 or 4 down at tea with 150 to get, they probably do go for it. Pant is due. His dismissal in the first was an embarrassment to Teat cricket.

Seeing a lot of talk on Cricinfo about the Aussies being favourites. Not sure why. India bat with a long tail and the Aussies are notorious with not being able to finish their opponents off in these situations. I think the draw is the warm favourite. If India bat to win, it actually makes an Aussie win more likely.

Yeah, my head says probably a draw, the heart says no way go Oz, with a small element of fear, but the tie is also on the table, can’t wait for the day to begin.

Go Oz!!!

Aussies feeling the pressure already. Considering reviews when the ball isn’t even in the same postcode as the ball

Seeing the first 10 overs was high quality bowling and good temperament in batting.

This might be one of the best days of Test cricket with all 4 results possible.

Hopefully it's not a 60/8 or a 200/1 situation

Without people like Pujara, Vihari, Rahane or even Ashwin, I feel India doesn't have many that can bat at a SR of 20-30. The team is full of run scorers.

In saying that though, Sharma is currently 8 (40), which is very weird to see.

With only 2.5 sessions at play, Australia won't get a chance to bowl with the second new ball at all which may prove to be a little costly.

I think Rahul will try to play that role. He’ll want to be the anchor while the stroke makers like Pant and Jadeja bat around him

There’s a lot of pressure on him. Basically playing for his career, so needs to be a lot more watchful

They were a good 60-70 runs short of where they should have been last night. Was a great fightback by the tail, but starting the day with a lead of over 100 and only ending the day 330 in front wasn’t enough.

Well those 2 wickets have immediately swung momentum into our favour. India is going to need a long partnership here to have any chance
