Cricket Season Thread

It’s Test cricket.
You play the game on the field, in the media, in the sheds. You find advantage where you can.
Konstas is under their skin. Had Khawaja not shit the bed his tactics would have worked. He’d have a nice dinner and restful sleep whilst they toss and turn thinking of how to get back at him tomorrow.
It’s all part of the theatre.
Have to agree on Khawaja, his form is awful. He looks like every ball will get him. Surely they won’t take him to Sri Lanka and, sorry for calling you Shirley.

i know i am in the minority here, but i dont like the way sam konstas is carrying on, we were wasting time not to get a another over in and Bumrah had every right to say hurry up!! If that was us and the oppostion was doing the same im sure we would kick off too. For a guy in his second test is certainly lippy!! Yes i am an 80s kid and dont understand the new kid retrict but show the best bolwer i have seen visit these shores a bit of respect!! Bumrah has been nothing but respectful this whole tour and i believe is a brilliant captain!! Yes he ran towards Sam after the wicket but tell me who wouldnt do that..

I'm with you. I watched Sam as a junior and want him to come through and succeed, but he is carrying on like a right royal knob IMO. You can be young, confident and brash without taking it as far as he is. Cummins needs to have a word to him. This morning will be very interesting to see how he plays. I have no doubt he will be too aggressive for what the situation requires.

If we get below 300 we will lose this test.

He needs to knuckle down and build a score.
They are coming for his blood this morning.

Filthy Phil has obviously never heard of the long list of batsmen who exploded onto the scene with an arrogant swagger and dominated for many years. Look at current legends Joe Root and Virat Kohli. Wankers delux and always have been. Davey Warner….the list is extensive. Ponting, Sachin and Lara…all smug bastards on the field who never backed down.
Those players have earned the right. Doubt any of them came in Day 1 of their Test career acting as if they owned the game.

Lets be clear Kwajaja has a terrible technique when you are trying to survive till stumps .He jumps sometimes to the tip of his toes sometimes both feet off the ground .Its a nervous reaction .
When you do what he does you don't have a solid base and the ball that got him was a good ball but not a jaffa .Kwajaja jumping didn't line up well

It’s say on cricinfo that Bancroft broke his nose and shoulder and is out for the season. It’s been a tough year for him.

Yeah I’ve noticed this he settles down as his innings go but I bet every teams knows he does it early and Bumrah has his measure and may retire him early. But there is no other opener asking to be picked and no shield cricket?

I agree to an extent but he hasn't gotten this far by being told to change his ways..
Lippy brash confident etc... It is against the grain and I highly doubt it's a new thing with him. It's who he is and I assume his previous coaches have thought trying to temper his attitude might affect his performance.

The time will come hell go thru a form slump and these questions will come flying thick and fast

The game is changing, always evolving and many don't like that

His debut innings was compulsive viewing, absolutely exhilarating. But he now needs to show the other side of his ability. I've seen him get a run a ball century as a kid and thought to myself "how is this innings a run a ball" because he batted boring, taking zero risks, but before you knew it he was raising his bat. So he can bat safe and conservative but still score.

Has he always been this “Lippy brash confident etc..” ?
It’s not what I had heard, confident yes, but I think the lip and brash is due to the new environment he is in and he is combating it the best way he can. But just as it maybe getting under the Indian skin, I wonder how long before he is getting drawn into it and away from his actual natural confident game.

Marnus gone.

I've never known him to be like this, or heard he was like this. It seems to be a bit of a surprise to the people I know in the cricket game
