If you want to debate from 2011 onwards...yes the board had a lot to do with it as we have discussed ad nauseum. Our three spoon years can be largely blamed on the decisions to bring Sheens and Marshal on as coaches and the piss poor performances those two along with the training staff have put in. Sure the board needs a kick in the arse for hiring them, but in their defence they did provide them with upgraded rosters, far superior to what their predecessors had to work with and they did nothing with them.

What needs to be discovered is if anyone else is providing encouragement to Stapleton? Stapleton is acting like Balmain has security from someone.....but who. They and he seem like there willing to burn their bridges HBG and the WT. Obviously his position is no longer tenable but HBG must get to the root of the issue.

Entertaining any consideration for a bid is treacherous to their relationship with WT and given Balmains lack of financial clout it is highly unlikely Balmain is acting alone.

I wouldn't be surprised if HBG appoint investigators.

The mere prompting will show all how serious the bid is and where the encouragement is derived from.

He speaks with reason, common sense, fairness and doesn't strike me as being one eyed like most on here are.

As an ex Balmain supporter, absolutely should be banned.
Additionally, if there is a push to change the Wests Tigers to be Wests Magpies then those involved should also be banned.

Leave our NRL club alone and stop the factions, we are Wests Tigers.

Yes; happy for anyone touting such nonsense to be banned/removed from any involvement in club management (whether board level or otherwise).

I don't know why 'Balmain Tigers' even still needs to exist as a separate entity (likewise 'Western Suburbs Magpies').

And yep, I was a Balmain Tigers supporter. But that's ancient history now - I've been supporting Wests Tigers for a lot longer than I supported Balmain.

Take Madge for example, great coach has proved his skill level and determination many times with different teams, although at Tigers he was the target of internal politics with the board and CEO constantly working against him.
I’m looking forward to seeing the results he gets at Broncos with a strong supportive CEO and others on the board.

Penrith were in diabolical shape but the team was a top 4 side.

Cronulla and Melbourne were under administration with toxic management and governance problems but team still firing.

Would you like the Balmain split to prevail?

Think there's pretty much solidarity amongst us that noone should hold a place on the WestsTigers board simply because they represent another group.
As far as I'm concerned Burgess and the other HBG board members shouldn't be there as they represent HBG, Stapelton shouldnt have a seat as he represents Balmain. The only people who should be on the Wests Tigers board are those committed and soely representing the WestsTigers. In saying that HBG will always have people in there as the owners. I dont think its right but it is what it is. Everyone wants the rest of the seats filled by competent independant board members so this factional garbage can end finally. Western Suburbs and Balmain died when they merged, they're gone. If either of those clubs were so great they never would have needed to merge in the first place. They don't exist anymore. I'm from the Balmain side and I can't see how they can justify wasting a board seat on Stapleton because he comes from a club that was brought out. His seat should be vacated for another independant as far as I'm concerned.

While that may be so, the point is that we need to be doing everything right. We cannot afford to have a board giving coaches a hard time while they’re already experiencing challenges beyond the normal scope.
