Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I really dont get the klemmer hate.

I don't think there is any hate. He is a serviceable front rower. Makes his tackles, albeit softly, makes his yards, albeit with slow play the balls.

However there is simply nothing about him that suggests he is a pack leader. He is soft in front row terms.

He has created a myth amongst fans that he is tough because he gets he angry face on sometimes. I'm sorry, but I can do that angry face and wave my arms around too.

Sort of agree. I can't, at this stage, see he grabbing the boys,, saying follow me and let's get the buggers. Mind you I haven't seen any WT forward lead like that for many years.

..
No
and
no.

Look we have 1 2RF in Samuela, Pole and a few others who can play lock.
Naden hasn't got the physical to play Center. He was kinda better on the wing as a winger who can shutdown the other side. Keep him in the playing group and see how he vibes off having Luai back.

If Naden had to go to the front row it would be 2RF, but it would be brutal. I can only see him as that 3rd bench player that covers the back positions but does 20 minutes in the forwards if no one else injured.... Which is what I think we hired Jack Bird for.
Naden could have been anything

Unfortunately it is a contract that we just have to see out in 2025.

True for 25 & 26.

I should have said that's a $2.35M deal.

I'm sure other clubs will say they would offer $1M plus a season...

Gonna be interesting

Happy enough for the club to get him signed up on something similar to your suggestion, or wait a little, as either way market rate will end up applying after part way through this season if his form holds.

As the game as a whole becomes more and more ruthless, managers are even more so and gone are the days when players take significantly less to hang around.

He needs mongrel with him. If you had blokes like Stephano around you not pulling your weight, and diabolical last tackle options. you'd possibly not play at your potential.

Some of his best years were with Graham by his side. Lets hope a better pack can draw the best out of him.

19 games for Australia
14 games for NSW
Almost 250 NRL games

I think that classes him as the forward leader

Certainly until someone else steps up to take the mantle from Klemmer, which May has chosen to attempt and hopefully others like Pole may try.

Also fair to say that he was the leader in 24, as Utoikamanu certainly wasn't as consistent. More dynamic, sure, yet only occasionally properly breaking the line or scoring and generally through small opponents or a magic pass at that. Both lacking mongrel.

I agree that’s who he’s supposed to be . Whether he is though ? Not based on last years form . He looked like he had no answers at times last year .
The sheer volume of penalties really looked to get a lot of the guys looking at thier shoes .I hope he has a bounce back year . Most props usually have a turn back the clock year in thier late career .
I’m betting it’s this year for Klem .

Just checked Klemmers 2023 stat's....he played all 24 games ....was 9th in the NRL for post contact metres and 20th overall in all metres ......that really shocked me

Hoping May and Hunt lift the rest justifying their signings.
