Me too mate ! I know I was into HBG , but all I really wanted was yesterday to happen . Now it has I don’t really care what happens with HBG . The monies the WT get from various revenue streams should be enough to run the business separate of HBG .
With them only needing to chip in on huge infrastructure projects or expansion projects like the big push into Campbelltown last year and local engagement .
Hopefully that was a huge up front cost , with the business being able To that moving forward , as I’d hate for that to be deemed an unnecessary cost by someone in a few years time if HBG are fitting most of that bill . It’s too important . This all speculation . But yea I hope the club can sustain itself without too much external tipping in .
And I think it does by and large .

There’s one HBG board member on the WT board . 4 independents .stapleton and Montgomery . Complete separation now from HBG. The old model was the whole HBG board was the same as the WT board . There was no difference . As the saying goes “turkeys don’t vote for thanksgiving” .
As for the the infrastructure projects . There’s the upgrade to Campbelltown COE, there’s the offices in Campbelltown, there’s LO .
There’s what those offices mean re. Massively expanding the wests tigers footprint in the south west . That costs money . I’m only assuming as these are new projects that have been signed off in the last year , that more money would have needed to be kicked in external of the revenue share from the nrl , and revenues of wests tigers , based on Richo and Barry talking about the monies HBG have kicked in . As I’m pretty confident the grants form the nrl cover nearly all day to day to operations costs, and salaries.
But I don’t know , I’m connecting dots here .
The good thing is now the day to day operations are signed off on by the WT board and any things that need money external of the club , then obviously Barry will have to take that to HBG .
This is completely different to 2023 and previous where the same people who would approve the money HBG were the same people deciding the WT day to day . There’s no separation .
So I’m sure you were up to no good with your post , but I’ve just outlined why I think this will be good for wests tigers, and why getting people on the board with real corporate governance experience , was essential . I’ve told you 100 times . I only ever focused on HBG because they weren’t implementing the changes for WT . Now that’s happened I’m happy for Julie and the rest to go back and scrap over wests Ashfield .
I only care about the business in concord . Not the one on Ashfield .

I used to have a good laugh at the previous admin hiring a group dynamics guru to help them find leadership in the squad, while the boards avoided the spotlight. 😂

Unfortunately, I think it's gone past that now.
Given HBG ( formerly the Wests Group) has invested substantial funds approaching 14 million towards our Balmain partners to sustain their involvement, maintain their archives and fund their juniors of which scarcely a 1st grader has evolved from recently, and obviously this funding is ongoing, following the negative publicity towards HBG from Gary Leo's media release year and the recent Kea talk, and now the petition which has been authored by people in order to pressure HBG, perhaps it is time for a paring back of grants given to our partners.
14 million for treachery and delinquency is a very poor ROI. Furthermore, this negative publicity could impact the groups revenue going forward.
Probably not advisable for the group to encourage bad behaviour towards its benevolent provider.

I think it’s great that Wests and Balmain were able to reach agreement to save WT from dissolving. However, it marked a moment in time when things went pear shaped following the NRLs withdrawal, of their 2 year involvement to restructure WT.
I don’t understand how anyone could want more of what was dished up during the last decade?

Very relevant.
There is an ongoing commitment to Balmain. They have a seat on the WT board.......all because of HBG (formerly the Wests Groups) benevolence.
This doesn't have to continue given Balmains recent attempts to dissolve the JV however feeble they were.
It's a business and currently Balmain is a black hole providing nothing but bad publicity.
Partners have legal responsibilities re their behaviours.
A non financial partner providing negative publicity to the group is bad business and this will need to be looked at.

And in actuality , having the board diminish Balmain even further to just 1 guy now is actually good for wests magpies as well . I don’t see your issue . Why cause people on the outside are complaining they’re on the outside ? Who cares ….
