True but much of that dead wood would not be on big dollars (big for what they are producing, yes, but not big in terms of freeing up cap space). We still have a lot of cap space taken up by dead wood. A few contracts the end this year won't be renewed.
For example Doueihi, Naden and Staines could all not be renewed. At about 300k a piece that frees up 900k. But then 2 blokes on at least minimum wage will need to be taking up 250k of that leaving 650k to sign a quality player.
A lot of minimum wage (or close to) guys may not be renewed. But again they will need to be replaced by min wagers so no cap gain there.
Klemmer is one guy who may not be renewed who is on decent coin. I think he will comfortably hit the 14 game mark to trigger his option but if he is offered a long term contract elsewhere he may take the security.
Sullivan may/may not come back onto the books. At the very least we will still likely need to contribute to him. Bateman won't be back but we likely will need to contribute to him also.
I don't see where the cap space opens up to recruit more than 1 maybe 2 decent players. Particularly if we are offering upgrades to Galvin, Da Silva and anyone else who may need one.
