Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I know it's known we've publicly shown interest in Hetherington but I would much rather us target Ethan Bullemore. Also off-contract, backrow is his primary position, has just as good if not better tackle efficiency as Hetherington, has greater leg power to break the line in attack and oozes energy & effort.

He could walk into our right backrow position (unless Seyfarth brains it) whereas has more of a fight at Manly for a starting spot. I've mentioned before a potential stumbling block is his manager Isaac Moses but worth a crack for a similar $$$ amount as we were contemplating for Kobe.
No arguments targeting Bullemore from Manly. Didn't we just release Onitoni and Ashton Large to Manly. If we were interested in Bullemore then surely we could have used a bit of leverage by dangling the Large brothers as a carrot. I believe they have the same manager. Understand Ethan would be a top 30 player whilst the other two are juniors but surely it would have been worth a phone call.

Olam will be fine for this year but not sure about his final contract next year. See how he holds up.

What ever happens in the next two years I just hope that the two centre positions are sorted with some actually decent players.

remember when we had Whatuira and Elford? Not the most dynamic in attack but defensively they were rocks. We need two rocks with decent attack.

I want the Cheese NO where the WestsTigers .. !! The dud is habitually “nose candy” junkie .. !! He will destabilise what we are trying build .. and besides the only white powder we need at our club is for the line marking on the field .. !! An absolute NO thank you from me .. !!
Easy big fella. He’s not coming here.

Well a raw truth, when Teddy was in our side we did not come last.

Two different problems:
The Tigers normally spend heavily on 'Depth' that doesn't even meet most sides first grade.
We sign overpriced players for super long contracts, then we don't have the cap space to make a real team...

Look I want to resign Galvin, yes he is going to be a damn good player. Just the way people talk about him they mention him like he will be a Tedesco or Cleary. Honestly, he isn't THAT good. We have Luai on 1M, we are still paying for Bateman and Bud. 700k no question, I would resign Galvin... but I suspect that bidding could go stupidly high.

We may loose the Galvin bidding war OR say goodbye to Bula and the Fainu's. I feel one of these players are gone and I would decide on the contracts and deals presented.

One thing that really, REALLY hurts us in these bidding wars is our DEPTH signing overpayments. Those fringe grade NRL signings that gobble up spare cap space. When we are paying so much of our cap into spaces 20-30, we don't stand a chance of keeping our stars. That's why I say we need to get a good 1-13, and were close.

I rant against DEPTH because it locks up our money in signing a good 1-13.... Likewise, Galvin may be a future player for our club to build on, he isn't "The Future".
I’m Signing Gal ASAP.

Since he left us he’s won an Origin series and got a job coaching one of the games glamour clubs. I’d say we’re long in his rear view mirror.
He got a job at the Broncos due to a lack of options. If all coaches were available he'd be down the list.

Bennett won at St George but he's still stewing over the Broncos hierarchy.

To weigh-in on the endless Benji chat...

I've always said he would have at least this year to prove himself, last year was not the one to judge him. Yes, in my own opinion, I don't think he can coach - but whether he actually can or can't is yet to be proven.

One thing he definitely has on his side, a lot of players seem to want to play for him.

Brandon Smith has spoken badly of the Tigers often, but if even he can see the changes Benji (with Richo) has made... that can only be a good thing.

On Smith - it would have to be a very good deal for me to want him here. I just worry he comes with too much baggage.

I know it doesn't count for much, but from hearing him speak on The Bye Round since his last Roosters incident (missed video, or something?) he seems to really have knuckled down with a good attitude.

Madge pissed of players at souths and here don't know how the donkeys will work out I reckon he should of stuck with the blues works well with the elite lot of big egos at the donks might get on the wrong side of them too.

At the moment we have 3 locks listed in the 30, plus bird and latu earmarked. With smith's off field antics, i don't get the appeal. Our current lads should have the year to step up.

We need a quality 2nd rower and an outside back to round out the squad more so. Lots of middle forwards already.
