Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I for one will be surprised and disappointed If his health issues extend beyond MCLs which we were aware of,and he reluctantly had procedures end season...
.Ill be pretty pissed off if theres anything more significant tbh ,directed at our management who signed him with "medical approval."...buying a reputation rather than performance. Were past that
at his age he will be done and dusted if theres anything significant still to be rectified
Sad reality is in years gone by he still was better on 1 leg than any other centre we trotted out

Our reserve grade halfbacks were both on $500k last year.
What do you suggest we pay him?
Good luck to both of them for getting over paid

A Good manger won't do that in the future

If you have to let go of Galvin because he wants to much so be it

I don't think the Tigers have the luxury of paying for 4 spine players big money would rather go to market for a good number 11 and play Latu at 6

That’s not the case here though. He is losing hands because his tells are obvious.
Last year’s squad should have won more than they did. The floggings of Cronulla and Canberra as well as back to back wins over the Rabbits and Sea Eagles - four mainstay clubs of the 8, was an indication that this team could play. Their preparations were erratic though and in the end they came up with the worst defence a Wests Tigers team has produced in 25 years to secure yet another spoon.
Gee Tuck, I get the feeling you don't like Benji as our coach?
Keep reminding me, I tend to get sidetracked.

If you don’t think he coached in 23 then you weren’t paying attention.

Why is that a fact?
I’ll answer for you, it’s not a fact at all. It’s BS.
So are you saying we have had a good playing roster who should have won many more games and went close if not made the top 8 over the past 2 seasons if we had a better coach ?

Lot of 'facts' on here...

Here's a couple more
- The Craig Bellamys of the game turn Brenko Lees into Origin and Premiership Winning Players.
- Our Coach for the last couple years sends players to the Craig Bellamys of the world so they
can play in Grand Finals.
- The Craig Bellamys of the game have it's superstars continue to play under him, for less money than they can get elsewhere.
While our coach loses one of the better up and coming players in the game to Craig Bellamys
- for less money.

there isn't a Tigers fan, That wouldn't swap Benji for Bellamy in a heartbeat - Why?
Because he gets better results!!
And he's done that - Continuously, For a very, Very long time.

To say no coach would make our team better is the biggest cop out I've ever heard.
Finishing last, 2nd last or 3rd last is very little difference.
There is absolutely no chance Bellamy or Bennett could have helped the team finish in the top 8 with the playing roster we have had for the past 2 seasons.
They are good coaches, not magicians.

The only way i see Galvin staying is if he has a phenomenal year with Luai and we at least make the finals.
Other than that i think he will go, he's already proved he's indecisive about things one day he's trying to get players to stay the next agitating for a release.
If he hasn't signed on by November i would say we would use him as trade bait for 26.
The only couple of positives in this is we've yet to see Latu injury free he could be anything and Sullivan with Bennett in his ear. We could yet see Bennett turn him into something, he's not had a proper coach until now.
Seriously
“The only couple of positives in this is we've yet to see Latu injury free he could be anything“
Latu has been here for 1 full season and we are yet to see him injury free,
Let’s hope we see him fully fit sometime this year and maybe we will see why he is on such a big $ contract.

Cleary had heaps of cap space (the big 4 left) while Maguire had next to none because of the Cleary long term over paid signings. Two completely different scenarios
Madge was here for four years, he wasn't hamstrung by Cleary his whole tenure. In fact what Madge did was make us worse each year and spend money on the likes of Leilua, Roberts, extend Brooks to a deal worth over $1 million in its final season

All this talk about Latu magically taking his spot without a hiccough without ever proving himself consistently in first grade is just living in hope.
Plenty of people are saying we shouldn’t offer Galvin a good contract because he’s only played around 20 games. Yet they’re quite happy to give his spot to a bloke who has hardly been on the first grade field at all… and, so far, has been injury prone.

And here we are, Living in a world where the Dragons change the coach and go from 1 win ahead of last to 1 win outside the 8 - Inside 12 months!!
(With arguably a squad on par with ours)
And I don't even rate Flanagan.

Just because it doesn't / can't happen at the Wests Tigers,
It doesn't mean it doesn't / can't happen.

Always some forum mad science at play need to see how they both go to at least the middle of the season yet.

No, I’m not saying that.
I’m saying it’s an unreasonable thing to say that coaches like Bellamy and Bennett would have returned the same results Benji did.
It’s certainly not a fact at all minimum.

Have another look, the Dragons team of 2024 was full of size, power, speed, had an experienced rep halfback and an experienced game managing 5/8.
They were miles ahead of us in playing roster quality in 2024.

We’re not saying that.
You said they would have been as bad as Benji was. You said that was a fact.
I fundamentally disagree.

What’s concerning to me is he also had quite a few hamstring injuries at manly too. Hopefully he grows out of it

What gives you that idea - why do you think your view is the only one allowable ?
To be fair I do remember them all saying on NRL360 he was in the driving seat while Sheens took the beat ups from the media in the second half of the 2023 season. None of us really know but that’s what was said in the media
