I agree with .most of what you have said;, the key point you raise is our inability to put together good defence for any length of time. So clearly they do know what is expected of them and they can string it together. The technical aspects of the coaching in defence is there. The execution, attitude and frustration is linked,.in my opinion, ro them.being knackered too early. Unable.ro attack with their defence because of it.Disagree Mate,
Our defence is passive as a whole, I've basically seen every team in the comp attack with their defence at some point - Outside us.
Another thing I've said, Is we don't dominate in the tackles, We catch them, And take them to ground.
It's coached and has been through many different squads in the last decade or more.
Funnily enough, On the rare occasion we do go in search of the collision, We seem to go OK.
But we can't ever do it for long enough...
that's also coaching.
We're constantly on the retreat in defence, A lot of the time we look brittle enough to bust open on ever play - Like surviving the 6 tackles is some kind of achievement. The anxiety is next level.
We've never been able to handle being uncomfortable, The good teams thrive in it. Even some lower teams are happy to get into the Grind of going Toe to Toe.
We're soft
- We don't know what high level NRL intensity is..
We've bought in some high level players that know that intensity, I just hope we don't golf day it out of them - We have enough young fellas to follow if the bar is set.
Suggesting it will be set by the coach is fanciful - His playing days at the club were the catalyst for it.
Every set starts deep in the opponents half - Attitude and Coaching in Defence is what keeps them there.
Too soft, definitely. I think your points arr based on the attitude component of coaching whereas I was looking at the technical aspects of defensive play. Either way, 100%we need to coach attitude!
