If no

and yet some on here , don’t want a bar of lodge or molo , both have mongrel in them , and I quess Richo and benji are in the same boat , we will never get out of the bottom untill we shake of this , oh we can’t have him or him
Just because you think that they would be good for the club doesn't make it so.

anyone who says seyfarths lateral defensive positioning doesn’t need improvement isn’t telling the truth .
But his desire for contact and using his shoulders is also really good .
A lot of edge players both back rower and centres , you just don’t see that . Even guys like Fifita can be caught arm grabbing a lot .
I think the issue with him is 2 fold ; he’s an edge forward who was really tall so “they” ( not going to mention names as it will piss off people) decided he was a middle . He never ever really developed into that , bevause imo it was a mistake to move him there in the first place . When you move someone in , thier training program changes , thier film changes , everything changes to suit the brutality of the never ending collision in the middle . Edge forwards are allowed to be more athletic .
I saw enough on the edges at the back end of last year to give him a crack , basically due to no better options in the club .
The ill discipline argument , whilst valid , was also sorted I felt after the Souths game , and he really reined in his aggressiveness as the season came to a close . I also feel he was being singled out , and smart chirpy spine players on opposition teams , were constantly fishing with refs and manipulating , as well as refereeing confirmation bias .
Eg. When he got 10 in the bin for basically nothing , because the perception was “it’s seyfarth he must have done something” . He’s not the first player to suffer from this , and won’t be the last , but yea if he’s cuts the shit out of his game , it will go a long way , because it actually tends to go the other way when he’s perceived to be “a bad guy come good” . Lattrell gets that treatment even though he never stopped being a grub, but that’s the narrative .
I think a different training program , with more focus of lateral agility , and explosion laterally , as well as positioning etc. should help him along .
But people need to also remember , as much as I think Fainu is destined for an AUS jersey , he fell off tackles at a rate far higher than seyfarth.
So I think our edge positioning needs to be worked on . And really trust on the edges to work together , so when a Damien cook ( did you know he was a beach sprinting champ ? lol) burns you on the outside at 4 in , youre not exposed as you’re half has jammed to wrap that ball , and at the very least slowed him down for the cover to collapse the edge .
But at the end of the day as well , you’re trying to defend against elite footballers . Defence is always a losing battle . Because the perfect game is 0 and that’s just not really possible week in and out . As close to perfection say the panthers have been these last 5 years . But that’s the exception not the rule .
Guys are going to miss tackles , they’re going to make mistakes . But the issue is the net positive by the end of the game should hopefully be in your favour .
Too often that’s not been the case for our club . And that’s what we need to shift . Winning the run of the green more often than not . You get that , and you don’t need to defend as much as we do in the first place .

Not by me,
I'd have kept Blore over both of them.

From memory,
most of the criticism around Blore was about staying on the park.
If we didn't want to land Olam to plug some holes in our backline he would probably be still here if we let him play at 2RF, don't think he was keen playing at prop.

  • He was at the Roosters in 2018 when they won the comp
  • He then had a year off success and played for us
  • Next it was on to Storm for their premiership in 2020
  • Then it was to Penrith for their 2021 win.

Didn't play in the Games though - Probably didn't get a ring...
Being part of the Squad isn't winning a GF.

That's like saying Ben Reynolds is a 2005 Premiership Winning Halfback.

Technically yes but not getting on the field a hollow victory.
No its not. it takes the whole roster to put a club in the frame to secure a premiership.
Obviously its great to get the ring and the recognition, however if you were there busting your arse all year at training and in the rare appearances you got, you did your job and are a part of it.

What job does Twal do exactly besides getting dominated in tackles. We reluctantly extended his contract because our depth sucks.

He is too nice for a prop. We need more mongrel.
I think you need to go back and watch Twal play.

He's not flashy, doesn't make clean breaks or really offload, but he definitely doesn't get dominated in tackles. In defence, he makes his tackles and looks strong. As a prop, that's his job and he does it adequately.

Twal has it over Seyfarth for strength and size.

Seyfarth brings energy and effort, but has been lacking physically for a few seasons. I saw the tide shift a bit last season where he wasn't getting dominated as much as in the past, but he needs to work on his strength. As a backrower, we need more.

Seyfarth is slowly improving, but he's 27 now, so needs to have a decent year to justify the spot over a younger and more dynamic player.

Both players are squad players, and through lack of depth, they get more game time with us than they would at other clubs. They play to their contract value I would say.

On the balance, if I had to choose who to replace first it would be Seyfarth because we need more quality in his position. Prop is looking decent for now.

Yes it is. Its a team sport.
The starting 17 get the accolades but look at every post GF victory...the guys in suits who played during the year are not exluded from the victory celebrations.
As for your silly example....Obviously he wouldnt say it like that.
But I bet he tells stories of his time at Wests Tigers, especially in 2005 when they won the comp.

His past sins aside...

Lodge has size for sure, but he is slow and has no footwork or agility. He really can't build enough speed to use that size at the line.

Compare that with a massive prop like AFB, May or Haas and you start to see why clubs are not keen on him. These guys are way more athletic and provide minutes and impact. Lodge is low minutes with low impact.

At 150k he's a value squad/bench player IF we don't need the roster spot, but frankly we need a spot to bolster back row before adding another prop.

To be fair, I think we have done the best recruitment we can with what was available for 2025, including 2 big name players in May and Luai.

After this season, there will be a bunch of players that will be on the radar and we can add to what we already have.

As it stands, we have May, Klemmer, Hunt, Pole, then Sione Fainu, Twal at prop. Where do you even fit Lodge into that mix?

Surely you would feel the disappointment of not getting to the GF that would give you the feeling of unfulfillment

You can call the bloke holding the pads the Heavyweight Champion of the World all you like....
I don't see it that way.
