Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well I hope u can give them ur support when we are at the bottom half again , I think we have a VERY solid backline , the half’s are the best we have had in ages , but letting go forwards without adding much needed forwards really worries me , the half’s need a pack to go forward and defend or it will all end the same as the last 3 years
On paper we let some decent forwards leave . In reality Stefano was giving minimal efforts, Paps missed most of the year with an injury and Bateman was happy to go home.

Those losses aren’t as catastrophic as people perceive.

I don’t believe what I’m reading sometimes.
If we go into a season with Kit Laulilli, Justin Matamua and Tim Johanssen as our first 3 middle forwards to call on as soon as we get an injury, we will finish bottom 4 and there will be nothing our class players can do about it.
They should be 3rd, 4th and 5th call ups at best.
It’s no point including Samuela Fainu and Alex Seyfarth as middles, they are required for the back row.
Define first 3 though …. Prop rotation of May , Pole , Twal , Hunt , Fainu , seyfarth . With bird as well at lock .
You want someone like Kit to be pushing for first grade . Same with Johannson. That’s litterally the money you want to be giving roster spots 21-25 . You do not want to be paying a guy 675k to be in that position .
Youre totally looking at this wrong .

It’s a simple equation.
IF we lose Klemmer and do not replace him externally with another forward of proven NRL quality it will mean our likely starting forwards are;
13. Twal
12. Seyfarth
11. Sam Fainu
10. Pole
9. Korisau
8. May
14 Da Silva
15. Bird
16. Sione Fainu
17. Hunt

** I think most of our supporters agree that is a decent looking forward pack and bench rotation. Not brilliant, but hopeful they could get the job done against most opposing forward packs.
** After that we drop in NRL forward standard substantially and will be relying on players not only unproven at NRL level, but all except Tim Johanssen and Reuben Porter who have not even had one dominant game at NSW Cup level.

i can almost guarantee you there's no game this we will lose and fans will go "damn if we just had Klemmer we would've won that game"

Not worth worrying about. Let's be excited for who we might sign with our WAR CHEST
And all scream to the heavens when Klemmer is not replaced with anything the 1 st half (at least) that shook out of the trees

I would have Rahme over Johannssen at this stage based on trial form and NSW Cup performances over the last 2 years. Rahme is more experienced than Johannssen while be a couple years younger. You could also argue Johannssen also looked better than he is due to the fact he played in the worst side in the comp.

Rahme also has the size and skill set more suited to NRL football moreso than Tim.

That pack is less than decent.
It is full of guys either attempting to grow into an NRL player or towards the end of their journey.
2 injuries to the pigs in that 17 and we will get the spoon again.

Just on Rahme, he only just turned 21 years old (in Jan) and is still eligible for Flegg. He is a former Australian Schoolboy and Balmain local junior. Hes younger than Matamua, Pole, Bula, Sione, Tumeth and is only 1 month older than Samuela despite having 39 games NSW Cup Experience.

On average, props are usually the latest to debut at NRL level and most don't start playing regular first grade until 22-23. He give me Sione Fainu vibes. Highly rated prop coming through the grades with junior rep honours who needed a couple years in NSW Cup before making it in first grade.

I agree Rahme could be one to step up.
He has done a good apprenticeship with a couple of rival clubs in the lower grades and is now at an age where he is battle hardened and ready to make his mark.
You mentioned he has the size, I was under the impression he is shortish and smallish for a prop ?
Another who would currently be way down the pecking order and very small for a middle forward, but a tough as teek Queenslander we have recruited for our NSW Cup team is Luke Jack.
Never the less our forward depth back up after our top 17 is very weak and will be only weaker if we lose Klemmer and do not replace him.

I’m sure Richo intends to use the Klemmer money to add a couple of pieces, he seems to have a way of getting things he wants.

He is fairly short, but has a good frame and build and is very strong. He has good leg drive, has good contact and doesnt get driven back. He fits the mould of the short stocky modern day NRL prop. For context, his listed height is the same as Sione Fainu.
