LIVE GAME Preseason Challenge v Eels

Live Game Discussion
He’s still very young and these two trials he’s been playing within himself. Most players are to avoid injury. I wouldn’t be worried - he’s a much better player than he’s shown the last 2 weeks. We just need to be patient with him and let him build confidence.
With Api here another couple of years the club doesn't have to rush Tallyn.

Oh I doubt it's automatic, he's got to earn the spot. Thing is, there's not many dummy halves around that are worth buying so he'll be given a good shot at it.

Poor sliding from AD basically gave up on his man then somehow TDS falls off this when his arms are both wrapped around him.

TDS also played a part in another try when he was 3rd man in a tackle of Hopgood and simply had to wrap the ball up, he went hips Hopgood offloaded & 2 passes later Eels were in.

Fair chance Morris has him in the video room tomorrow.

I’d say AD looked at TDS coz he had the guy locked up with both arms but he broke free to score. Probably surprise more than disdain.

Also, if you watched the game closely you would have seen his reaction on the bench when Hope scored. He put his face in his hands and turned away from his teammates who were very animated.
Those little things tell you a lot and maybe, just maybe he realised that sharpness is needed at 9 and it made him think about his own game.
Or then again, maybe I’m over reading it. If anyone has the replay check it and see !
Yeah I noticed it, he definitely did. He might have been thinking he got pulled as he only came off a couple of minutes earlier.
Having Hope around will push him. He knows he is the only option for round 1 and could be out of the team round 2. So may of been really in his own head.

Yes
Hopefully Morris does give him feedback tomorrow and the Kid takes it to heart and learns from it.

He's one of those kids that was outstanding in his age group but not quite progressing to NRL level. I've always had my doubts. The lazy penalties he gave away on Friday to me demonstrates a lack of awareness and application. He has a very high opinion of himself that hasn't been earned. Hope is playing on desperation and commitment. That bloke is giving 110%
One guy is sitting back waiting for it to happen

The other is busting his gut trying to make it happen

Effort players can get by on less skill because they are always putting in

And to be fair to TDS he is just a kid who has been told he is special

And the other is a guy who has been around the block and knows opportunities are limited make the most of them

To be honest I think it's a bit weird how many people are turning on TDS after one average trial...

Hope came on after all the hard work had been done and we were dominating - of course he looked better running the footy.

Of course TDS wasn't great but stil, he was very good in reserve grade last year AND he had some good games in first grade last year too

To me it seems like TDS is at the stage of his career where he should be coming off the bench in first grade for 30 mins a game - it will benefit him and Api

Problem is, Latu is also pushing for that spot...
Someone on here said it eventually happens.

Maybe just maybe he isn't getting the development he needs maybe!

Don’t bring logic into it … soo many people like the new shiny toy .

Who has told him he is special and it can't be mum or dad or any family member because that's what most tell them?

Yeah it's a pet hate of mine. TDS had him but changed his grip to get at the ball, maybe to rake it. Worry about stopping the ball runner first before you try and take the ball. It was abysmal defence from all 3 players in that area.

I think it's crazy that do to 2 quiet trial games people are claiming that TDS has no future in the nrl especially since the kid is only 19-20 you guys need to stop overreacting to every game

That being said it wouldn't surprise me if Hope gets a top 30 contract before round 1 so he can start since it seems that at this stage of their career he is a better player than TDS, the club is probably waiting for stuff for dragons to take klemmer to do it

Or maybe he’s one of those shiny lower grade toys who get continual rave reviews on here like Feledy, Matamua, etc etc who look the goods but maybe aren’t just quite up to it - I’ll say yet, coz they’re still learning but have my own opinions on what I see.

TDS had both arms and a leg wrapped around him… AD would have thought he had him.
I did.

Who knows. TDS o didn't think was as bad as some people have said but standards need to be higher. Happy for him to be backup and see how he progresses. If he doesn't then next one up.

Would like him to kick to the corners now and then. Turn the opposition pack around more.
