Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Everyone assuming Taylan May will be found not guilty? Wishful thinking maybe?
Did WT get Bryden's Lawyers advice on a "not guilty" verdict is a no brainer. So keep a top 30 spot for him?
Do we give his partner a brown paper bag to withdraw the charge? Negotiable?
Not sure how this is going end.
What about the club users the NO D-CKHEAD Policy and we look for another centre.
Don’t care if his brother is here or not, he is not the type we need in our team.

Twal and bird can share lock as a stopgap. you’re cooked af if you don’t see an issue with having zero depth at prop, especially if klemmer leaves

Again, we have the spots for centre and backrow. Spencer would be an unreal signing and I can’t believe there’s idiots here that are against it
Twal is a one dimensional front rower and Bird has a chequered injury history. what are you seeing that I'm not? there's much more depth at prop then there is at lock.

Spencer Leniu won't be leaving the Roosters. get it through your head.

So in other words even if he is found not guilty we should assume he is guilty and not sign him ?
It's as if some on here are jury members, if the guy is found not guilty sign him for those who want a nice guy well you know where they finish, if signed will be interesting if Benji will use the go to line he is a good person the stigma will follow him for a while till he stays out of the bad books.

What's the verdict got to do with weather he's a d*ckhead or not?

OJ was found not guilty too....
That’s a very opinionated comment.
Some might think there are a few d*ckheads on his forum too, but everyone is still allowed to post their opinions.

Gee I hate people like u , who jump on there moral high horse, if the NRL say he can sign for a club I am all good with , I am sick and tired of we don’t want him or him and they sign with another team and play the house down , we are here to win games not to judge what they have done , like I say NRL say good to go , sign him up

Correct me if I'm wrong....

But Taylan has already been found guilty and charged for the original incident where he assaulted his partner... this is why the Panthers sacked him.

But the March hearing is for new charges including stalking and breaching his AVO/DVO which he is pleading not guilty too.

There probably are and some may consider me to one of them but when it comes down to it, there is a difference between having an opinion and beating the crap out of some annoying stranger or your Mrs.

Having said that, if he is found not guilty or the charges are dropped and the NRL agrees to register a contract I don't have a problem with giving him a chance to redeem himself.

It's obvious that he is aggressive and has anger issues from what we have seen in the past and I have previously been critical of his behaviour, but if he can temper that under the mentorship of Benji, Richo, his big brother and other familiar faces that are here then I have no problem with offering him a last chance saloon type of offer.

There is no doubt that he is a very good centre and I would think that we would be in the box seat to sign him and for him to fit in fairly comfortably among some very familiar faces.

Hope it happens and hope that it can be a success.

I thought similar.
He ain’t getting off this surely?

Just did a google search on his court case his last appearance in court was to plead not guilty, next is the trial in March

Saw some article saying the DVO was amended to allow them to continue seeing each other.

Obviously something more has happened for him to be alleged of stalking and breaching it.

Interested in the outcome, nonetheless.
Hopefully he's invested this time away from the game in becoming a better person.

Hasn’t been found guilty of anything yet

I am in some what agreement with you if you did the crime pay the time then you should be allowed to make a living

People do bad things every day and are allowed to go on in there every day life

But I think before he gets a new contract the NRL should have a chat about the reputation of the game is of upmost importance

with the Olam news I'd be looking into Zac Laybutt and Viliami Vailea. with those two off contract, plus Purdue looking like a very good centre, the Cowboys can't keep them all happy. they're probably the best options of a very dry market.

you can't simply assume Taylan May will get off scot free, or that he'll be a natural fit for WT because his brother's here.
I've suggested Laybutt too - he is a gun!

It's obvious to everyone we need a second rower and centre - but let's not forget there is no rush.

I'm not saying we should write this year off, but Benji and Richo won't just throw money at the first person available like précis management

We might not sign anyone if the right player doesn't become available... all we can do is pray for another Terrell May situation we can take advantage of.... or our recruitment unearths a gun stuck in reserve grade.

I once listened to a Wayne Bennett interview about his success in connecting with and resurrecting the careers of many wayward players who are prone to getting themselves in off field trouble.
Without remembering his response word for word it was along the lines of him stating when looking at recruitment of young players and trying to find the next big thing, we are looking for highly aggressive young men that are a bit different and stand out from the crowd. Then as soon as their traits that were the initial appeal get them into any type of off field trouble, we want to kick them to the curb.
I am not in any way condoning violence and certainly not condoning violence against woman, but making the point we are often judging people as guilty without knowing the truth and are far too often judging rugby league players and wanting to write them off without any opportunity to change their ways.
With Benji desperate to be a Wayne Bennett clone and supposedly still consulting with Wayne Bennett in regards to many delicate matters regarding his players, I think it’s a fair chance that he will be doing all he can to take on and resurrect the rugby league career of Taylan May ONLY IF he is found not guilty and allowed to be re-registered by the NRL.
Let’s see how it plays out before jumping to conclusions.
