Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Heard he wants the club to “do the right thing” and that he keeps being told that “you don’t know how bad the tigers are until you go to another club”

Must be from players who’ve left

Teddy would be in his ear with moses

The only Defense we have is that Richo is here now and luai and we are a different club
thought trash talk would have come from his manager ,any in side goss on his thought of dumping his manager - which is an equation that doesn't get broached during the panic.Has Galvin decided not to upgrade or resign just to denie mosses a cut.His old man seems capable /help of a lawyer ? to take care of his welfare ? When you consider we paid Hastings 800k to be a car park attendant and stand around and point at things, 1 million would be a bargain price for Galvin.
Do it now Richo.
That never happened …. We were paying Hastings 300k for that first year , and then he tried to renegotiate because the knights were desperate and gave him 800k and we said thanks but no thanks . He was released a few weeks later . Plus we wanted to move him into the middle permanently, and the whole Madge fiasco .
Just because another club is desperate for halves they’re willing to offer 300-400k overs , doesn’t mean we should . And yes that includes the 10 years 14 mil for brown .
Galvin is a good footy player ,and he brains it this year give him the 1 mil. But if he doesn’t , you’re now paying for potential , and a return to the bad old days where we are hoping guys develop into a rep player .

Idk why I really have a special feeling about this year! 💙 I’ve been a Wests Tigers supporter my whole life, this year just feels different. Something is in the air..
I truly believe Jarome Luai and Terrell May will absolutely inspire our team into finals where we go on a massive run just like ‘05! Lachie Galvin will reach new heights with that iconic No.6 jersey on his back just like our Benji did 20 years back. Maybe I’m overreacting, but 20 years on from that amazing GF - the stars may just have aligned!

I would rejoice if the Galvan's were to tire of Moses and his snakey tactics and dump him, would be favourable for the club you would think.

Technically I think we can fit in Spencer assuming Klemmer is released or does not get his option. That leaves a lot less cap for the biggest priorities in the squad though - 2nd Row/Lock, Centre and Galvin extension.

It's hard to see Roosters letting Spencer go though. I'm sure they would snap Galvin up in a swap, but I reckon they would be just as willing to back themselves and waiting until November 1.

I wonder if Dragons may keep their powder dry on Klemmer hoping to snap up Leniu?
Must leave cap space to extend/ upgrade Galvin..

Haven't heard anything about his manager.

All i heard them say was just they want the club to do the right thing, and "if Benji is fired it would be a disaster".

My take is that (and completely unfounded) -- yes Galvin has two years of low pay with us - but really it's only one year.

If he waits to November 1 - he gets to see monster offers.

Then tigers can try and match it -- and also pay him more next year.

His manager is probably saying - just take pay hit this year - and lets wait to see.

Or -- if we start really well and Galvin gels with Luai and Benji is secure - I reckon thats the only hope of doing an early deal.

I pray that the Roosters get Dylan Brown.

That would take them out.

Then it would just be Dogs, Knights, Drags, maybe Souths - that will throw the sink at him.

I do not want to compete with the Roosters.

no real inside knowledge there ,But nor should there be.Thanks .Hope the roosters secure dylan also ,thats them stuffed until they unload a dodgy deal. Any whispers (lest just indulge each other here for a while) your whispers you get line up with anything positive for the WT;s . Galvin moving on after knocking back a fare amount is a positive

Is that kinda like how Mitch Moses's family weren't happy with how the Eels treated him as a Junior?

I love this reasoning that people 'invent' about a certain player never playing somewhere for some concocted reason that somehow makes it all make sense to them.

Galvin and his whole family are life long Parra fanatics - Somehow that never gets mentioned?
If they were taking odds of Galvin staying at the Tigers, Or moving to the Eels
- The Eels would be more likely shorter.
I had same thought when I saw the Mitch Moses extension today @batboy @Ermo especially with a Dylan Brown departure every possibility. Be an ideal scenario for Isaac Moses to have his 2 ‘blue chip’ clients Moses & Galvin in the halves together at the one club, gives him another McDonalds franchise to have a stranglehold on lol

But tbh I reckon Galvin’s preferred option is to stay with us but is likely just being advised to hold off on an extension to see how the club improves & coaching helps him over the next 3-4 months.

The more I think about it, the more I think Tyson Frizell would be a sensational & realistic ‘get’ for us this season.

Forget about his age, he is an outstanding trainer and standard-setter for teammates ✅
Right backrow who can lead an edge in defence ✅
Newcastle may be willing to shed another player on decent coin if they do secure Dylan Brown ❓
There is no mention about this in the media which is how we like to do business ✅
A 2-year deal would not block the pathway any of our talented young backrowers like Broederlow, Godinet ✅

Cleary won the 2023 GF with luai off the field. Luai is yet to lead an NRL team for a full season at halfback, let alone a 3 time wooden spoon team. He hasn't won a game with a field goal or a clutch play as a half yet. Sure he's excelled in an elite team and won 4 GFs, but on his own (not just without Cleary but all the other guns) it will be completely different, confidence aside. Off season hype will mean nothing until a losing streak of 3 becomes 4, then 5, then 8, etc. as it always does here, and then he regrets coming here and he's lost his competitive spirit that he's been so used to. The good thing is he has experience in a losing side with penrith in 2019 when they were coming last halfway through the season and he helped the comeback in that year with 7 wins in a row when he played in the halves.

Depth is good for competition when you have one standout and one decent player. When you have 2 standouts in a key position one will likely leave or be unhappy about missing out. Too much money spent on depth can also be a big problem as seen with Jayden Sullivan.

My ideal halves combination for 2025 is Luai 7 Galvin 6, however if they don't combine well it's worth trying latu by round 10, which is more than enough time to form combinations.

Further into the future I'd have latu taking over luai at 7 and swapping roles with galvin playing lock. Latu has a isaiya katoa/jahrome hughes style of composure when he plays halfback, obviously very different to the bench impact role he plays brilliantly at the moment
I think Luai will be good for us, but I agree with you in that his highlight reel is a little underwhelming compared to the other big name halves. Particularly when he has played on his own.

Admittedly I don't watch him super closely, but I haven't seen him make a lot of clean line breaks like many of the other good halves do.

He is quite good at stripping numbers on an edge, and it will be nice to have 2 halves that have effective short kicking games, but not sure how much of a difference it will make to us when all is said and done.

Tbh I'm reserving all judgement until round 10.

Haven’t seen him make lots of clean line breaks?
Obviously not watching him too closely.
