We went over this a few weeks ago. Brown has largely earnt his payday. Galvin has not in any way shape or form done so yet.

Totally agree Tucker, only takes one desperate club willing to take a risk on potential for them to start throwing money at him. We did it for years,paying overs for potential. We were desperate for success and thought it was our way out of mediocrity at the time.

All that might be true, but just as easily refuted when you look at what happened with Mitch Moses. Mitch's father was a Parra fan and Parra also cut him because he was too small.

And I've conceded that my situation was the reverse in that I ended up at the club I played juniors for, not the one I supported.

Difference is all the players you grew up playing reps with are mostly still at the original club.

This is one of the more wild takes I've read on here. I actually can't believe anyone in the top couple pay brackets of the NRL wouldn't take less to chase success.

Have people not noticed how many players roosters get for less than other clubs offer, but then a few years later when East are letting them go they state Roosters are letting a player leave the club, that will free up 1ml of our cap money, but his original contract they signed him on we were told was only $600.000 a season.

Dennisspicer1 has hit the nail on the head. Totally correct. When Tedesco was on the market Tigers offered him over $1.1m per season. Teddy told his teammates that the Roosters $ offer blew the Tigers out of the water. But then the Roosters put out their usual bullcrap that Teddy signed for less money to play with a better team. Then they register his contract at way under a million but Teddy gets paid his $1.2m And also as you rightly say when players leave the Rorters they suddenly claim it creates huge space in their cap - but wait uncle Nick? Didn’t you say you were paying him low $ when you signed him? Anyone who believes the tripe put out by the Rorters about what they pay players is a dope. Read Malcolm Knox’s many articles about how the Rorters cheat the salary cap - but of course the NRL never ever investigates them. NRL Integrity Unit? Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

I hear fans say this all the time but I've never really seen any actual examples of it (I'm referring to your second paragraph here).
He probably did get more than we offered when you consider the value of various intangibles such as that highlighted by Tucker. Those intangibles are legal and there is simply no evidence to suggest that he received more than what was offered in illegal payments outside of the cap. We've been mismanaged for to long to be a club that benefits from any intangible value and simply need to be better to not be out competed in such a way.

I'm not naive enough to believe all payments at all clubs are above board but there is no actual evidence of any wrong doing by the roosters and until there is I see no point complaining about it.

If Dylan Brown can get a ten year $12M offer -- Galvin will get way more.

In the trial last week Galvin was a constant threat. And he's only 19.

Someone will bank on him to be a franchise player - and they'll pay stupid money to grab him.

I don't know who his parents supported. Never met the guy or his parents.

Just saying you're making a lot of assumptions when players seem to just do things on a case by case basis. Juniors, parents, blah blah doesn't seem to make a material difference in whether they stay or go.

It seems to be results, coach and money above all else and not necessarily in that order.

I know good mates of his and they have said Teddy told them directly he will never pay for anything ever again. Now I have no clue what that means exactly. Maybe he takes receipts in every week and gets reinbursed in cash, maybe it's more elaborate, I have no clue. But I'm confident his contract value at the NRL doesn't quite match what he is bringing in each week.

I also know an ex Roosters player dad who's son was an average first grader. Said he received 100k cash every year on top of his contract. That's for an average player, so imagine the top players.

Just saying what my experience was; I found it interesting how invested I was with the club I was with having supported another as a kid.
