Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Here's the real question.

Would one pay any player $1 million a season after a handful of NRL games?

That is, in a nutshell, what we are dealing with and frankly it's madness to invest so much, so early, when Galvin needs to answer a lot more questions about whether or not he'll reach his potential.

2027 could be a big payday for him depending on how he goes between now and then. A million bucks now?...it's way too risky.

Titans have done it a couple times,
So yeah - People would do it.

They did it with proven origin players. Fifita and Cherry-Evans if I'm not mistaken. Is that what you're referring to?

Fifita had played his first series - Hardly proven.
And no, I was referring to Ash Taylor.

Sam Walker is on a million plus, and wasn't that many games ahead of where Galvin will be when he signs his next contract when he signed.

You're looking a the cost of an NRL 5/8 - What's a Franchise Player worth to an Organisation?
That's what Galvin is, And will be for a long while to come.

Luai is 28 and is The Franchise player. Galvin is a nappy rash away from being 20 and is nowhere near being a Franchise player. But I'd rather him in tiger-coloured nappies than anywhere else. 👶🤪🐯

What are your thoughts on what you would Offer Galvin at this very moment and how much you would offer him just prior to 1st November, assuming we had a very good season, are actually in say 6th-8th position head into the finals, Galvin and Luai have combined well and the whole team is looking like a very happy unit.

Would your offer be for more than say 5 years?

look how hood yeoh is for penrith, Galvin can become that ball playing 13 in years to come when he gets too big for 6
Could … is the word,, it’s like saying that Xavier Coates or selwyn Cobbo will be as good as Inglis because they have similar body type .. Inglis also has something else , same as yeo , Lachy has similar potential but has a long way to go to be Isaiah yeo

I have watched Yeo his whole career his dad played a little for Balmain it's always interesting watching kids come through from former players

Yeo played fullback wing and centre before moving to the forwards

Yeo is a different kind of human to Galvin Yeo is very humble

If Galvin leaves so be it because it won't be because of lack of trying

If Galvin wanted to stay the contract would already be done

Are you suggesting the crazy money paid for Fifita and Ash Taylor at their age and experience worked out well for the Titans?

Why aren't we hearing or talking about Tallyn, Luke, Kit, Justin, Will etc. They can start talking to other clubs from November 1 too.

If they wanted to stay would/should their contract already be done?

because each of those players would want to prove they're worth a higher value than what they're currently on. the club may well have approached them to extend but at a certain price, but quite often players and managers will back themselves for maximum dollars.

Tallyn, for example, will probably hold out to see what Api does. he's in line for hefty payrise if Api does in fact retire at the end of 2026.

All of them would have to be spending more time in 1st grade to be worth better dollars, coaching staff are limiting time there for a reason, they are not ready for week to week big minutes, maybe TDS is getting close but not convinced yet.

TLT tomorrow, do we think there will be any major surprises?
Hoping Bula is fit, but assume it will be a straight swap with Mason if not.
Reckon AD and To'a get the centre spots after their trial form, with Turuva and Skelton nabbing the wings.
Can't imagine any surprises for the rest very similar to 2nd trial squad (+Luai), think Latu gets 14 and bird gets 15 jersey.
17 goes to either Si Fainu or Kit.
Is that good enough to get it done against Knights?

The rumours first appeared on social media which speculated a mystery player was unhappy and wanted to return to his former club.

Leniu was then suddenly linked, which angered him.

As a member of the Roosters leadership group he fronted teammates to knock it on the head.

“He essentially said I am not going anywhere. This is where I want to be,” Crichton said.

“I think he was a bit pissed off that people would think we lose a few trial games and he wants out.

“It’s annoying when people talk rubbish. It’s just weird that you can make some bullshit up and run with it.”

Roosters skipper James Tedesco echoed Crichton’s sentiment.

“He’s handled it all pretty well. There were those rumours he just addressed with the group and he said it’s not true. He put it to bed pretty quickly,” he said.
