Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It repetitive and boring but it’s a football forum. I certainly wouldn't describe it as "wrist slitting" or "outrageous", thats a little hyperbolic. There's what, a couple of hundred people on this forum, I don't think it dictates how the broader fanbase or community think or act. I just keep scrolling if I read something that's been said 100x before

Not having a debate about the debate with you ! The conversation goes on the Galvin thread , and anyone who wants to participate in the chicken little echo chamber can go there . That’s all I’m going to say .

Sualii didn't get close to a mil. I think it was 600k.

Ash Taylor is the only one. Played 1 game for Broncos and Titans signed him on a mil.

Ended in disaster.

I think most clubs have seen the big money contracts and 10 year deals not work out most of the time.

Galvin might be worth a mil one day, but right this second, he is absolutely not. Anyone that wants to pay that are overpaying. He needs a couple of seasons to assess his long term value.

Right now he'd be worth 600k. Still at the very top end for a rookie.

You're not saying anything no one else doesn't already know.

Common sense says it shouldn't happen, But a lack of halves in the comp as it is,
plenty on the real wrong side of 30 (Even 35) and a new team coming into the comp all before the time LG's current contract expires tells me, He'll probably get top end offers in the vicinity of the money you're talking about
- And he might not deserve them (Ever) But you'd be extremely naïve to think they're not about 8 months away.

People saying Luai is our main man, I'm telling you - I see Galvins face and name in the Media just as much (I'm being cautious - I'd bet it's more) as Luai, And he hasn't one any comps or origins.
I've said it before - His enthusiasm for the game is infectious... He'll get paid on that alone.
All my mates who love a good game - love watching him play (None of them Tigers fans)

You might not think he's worth it, But I'd put a solid wager that you're not projecting the next 10 years of a Professional Football Franchise - those that are will be lined up to take the 'risk' same as they always have.

Any club with recent poor history in the halves will be at the front of line with their cheque books open and pen in hand, sadly we will have to accept this you can only hope that he wants to stay.

People = Marshall and club bosses "see him as the man who can reshape their future". Luai has also developed into a tremendous leader.

From his teammate Api Koroiseau -

“His footy IQ and the way he’s able to convey his ideas or what he thinks we should do is incredible.

“The way he walked into the place, he knew that he had to change things at this club. He’s come in and he hasn’t held back. Everyone looks up to him and loves him.

My comments are not anti-Galvin, but pro Luai. Galvin is a wonderful talent and I am glad we have him secured for the next 2 years when this is likely to be his best years as a 6 learning from Luai and Koriseau.

As the old adage goes he is worth whatever people are prepared to pay him. Clearly he is considered by plenty a risk worth taking.
There is plenty already to suggest that he is not your average 19 year old with potential.

Plenty can see it....

You think anyone saw what they had coming at the Cowboys when they signed Thurston?
I seriously doubt it...

Franchise Players aren't just your good / great players, they're the corner post of an organisation.
We already lost one in Tedesco, I'd be betting we'll do everything we can to keep this next one.
All WE can do, Is hope it's enough...

Ok...so if I'm not saying anything no one else doesn't already know, why continue refuting it?

You have mixed up my original message anyway. It's very simple.

As it stands...TODAY...he is not worth a million because he has only played a handful of games. Has he played well? Yes? Has he played well enough for long enough to command a million a season? I don't think so.

If he puts a good season together in 2025, we still have him under contract for 2026, so he's unlikely to get a million from us during that time. 2027 will be his year.

in 2027, he would have played 3 seasons and if he's been consistent, then he will have earned the contract, albeit with a premium due to what you've pointed out being a lack of halves. Could a club come in and overpay...of course! It happens all the time. People on here talking about 20 million dollar, 10 year deals are kidding themselves - if you would wager on that, then I'd take that bet. One million a season is more likely, if, and only if, he has shown consistency during the time with us. I'd be happy to pay him a million a season also if he is a factor in success for the club. The only caveat being is to show that you can do it over more than 18 games - i don't think that's controversial.

What you have not factored in, is that every year, a new shit hot rookie comes onto the scene and steals the limelight. This may also happen and it's likely across a 2 year time span. You or I don't have a crystal ball and I'm not the one making future predictions. I am talking about right now. If you want to read into it more than that, then that's on you. I really don't know what you're arguing about.

Anyway - I can't keep repeating myself. It's the last comment I make on the matter with you.

It may have been after the fourth, or was it the fifth, request for release prior to the season starting that he fell out of love for WT. It is sort of like a girlfriend asking for space, not that it has ever happened to me.😁 Richo did well to turn that PR disaster around nicely for the remaining 2 years.
Request for a release,
Are you sure ?
Because he certainly doesn’t look like someone who has had his so called requests denied.
I thought he just hasn’t extended because he wants to see if the team improves before locking himself in for a longer contract.
I know he didn’t need to play in both trial matches but he wanted to because he loves the game.
I wish everyone would just chill and lets just wait and see how this whole thing turns out.
