LIVE GAME Round 1 vs Knights

Live Game Discussion
I find this a very weird take.

We missed almost 60 tackles. We went one out on almost every single time we had the ball. We were pinned in our half due to our terrible kicking game. When Cogger blows our halves out of the park you know you've got a problem. The Knights started almost every set on their 30. That's embarrassing.
We didn't receive a single outcome from any of our kicks. We didn't even contest 99% of our kicks.
Our players were exhausted after 55 mins, which shows that the preseason didn't do it's job.
Ponga, Schiller and Sharpe tore us to shreds. We don't have a single centre or back rower who can break the line. No one with pace and only one winger with power.
Our goal line defence was solid. But if the Knights played remotely well they win by 30, if they played well they'd have won 40+. They were shocking, we got ALL the questionable calls and still lost. That's how much worse we were.

If we were trying things and the combos and execution just wasn't quite there yet, that'd be ok. But we tried nothing, and that is unacceptable.

For me the biggest issue is the fitness. Defence Congress form to attitude and fitness, and then technique. Our defence fell to pieces once our boys couldn't compete any longer and started farting off tackles . Given our struggles with fitness in the last few years fitness needed to be our top priority this off season, but seemingly it wasn't. If we can't play 80 mins then we will probably get another spoon
Makes you wonder what the hyped up army camp was all about.

We missed 50 tackles. I think it makes perfect sense to raise it. The negative stats are why we lost that game in my opinion.
I do agree though that he was a weapon but he can’t miss every tackle he attempts
Every game tackles are missed. It's how and where they were missed + the outcome.

To look at the stat and come to a definitive conclusion oversimplifies things. A bit like saying there's a wage gap between men and women without looking into why.

I mean...we only let in 10 points. By that stat our defence was really strong. What say you?

Mason drop ball cost us. Bula is a real FG FB. Probably wins us the game with far more attacking threat. TDS and Hope. Just back up for now, shows how much we need API. API would have put a forward over the line on some of the ineffective raids we had. Fataape v Best was embarrassing. I don’t mind the Fat but against real good players, he shown up. Add Doughie defence and we were always going to get smoked in the centres. We win that with full strength side. We need young centre May to get cleared of charge and Gareth Ellis to come out of retirement! Then we have a top 8 side. Those saying douhie was good should rewatch the game. Apart from goal kicking was totally ineffective

I think the missed tackles are bad too. But we scrambled much better. Too many teenagers out there for me. Maybe a lot less with API abd Bula back. Certainly need an upgrade on Seyfarth and for Pole and Sam F to stand up in defence

Watch it again. I thought so too but on review, first game of the season, they weren't that bad. Defensively, they never gave up. Offensively, terrible. The effort is there and that's what's most important.
Galvin, however, isn't a 5/8.
I watched it an hour or so ago. I missed it last night but found out the score this afternoon. 8-10….sounded like a tough arm wrestle.
Nope. It was a shitshow. Awful game of footy. Yes we defended well in parts, we did really well defending our errors which is something new for us. Overall though, with 50+ missed tackles, 22 more ineffective and some very poor passages, our defence was bad as last year. Our attack was abysmal, throwing nothing at them. We had great field position. Superior possession. They were penalised a lot at crucial times and made an tonne of errors. Our completion rate was far better. We were gifted plenty of opportunities and came up with buggerall.
That was a very winnable game that we never looked like winning.

May, Skelton and Twal were great. TDS was good too.
The halves were very rusty and the game plan on how to use them looked very flawed.

Something that seem's lost .Ginnane let rip with honesty ,very matter of fact expletive after Cessnock's 2nd try

Mate they bombed lots of opportunities. Best was a beast with the ball, but a complete dumbarse when in a scoring play. Ponga barely played in the first 40…I almost forgot he was out there. Add all this to their huge error rate and 7 penalties…it wasn’t just our goal line defence that kept their score to 10.

Should promote John Muggleton to assistant defense coach considering that is what he did for over a 10 year period with the Wallabies when they made the World Cup final.
I have said on a number of occasions that our S&T and overall fitness is the poorest in the NRL and I struggle to see anything that will improve.
Defense wins games. You get that right, your attack will flow, you just need to read numbers, run hard into space/holes and work hard off the ball.

Come on man. 45 minutes. I've parked in lots of car parks at events and that was up there with the worst. Admittedly I don't get to Campbelltown often these days .I expected a slight delay but I didn't move at all for 40 minutes. Even turned the car off.
Possibly could have had something to fo with the fire brigade having two engines parked at the roundabout to get the people out of the stuck lift?

The original point was about Skelton missing 3 tackles as a negative to the rest of his stats.

Keeping it in context, his 3 missed had no impact.

Unfortunately T.T
Both our halves have a big preference to play right to Left
Which will make it very unfortunate for whoever is selected to be our right side centre/wing as I’m guessing there job will be chasing kicks and making tackles all day.
OR Wait
Train our halves to get a bit of confidence with passing left to right.
I just watched the highlights of Manly and I think every try they scored was on their right hand side (passing left to right)
Show this to our half’s so they see it is possible to score on the both sides of the field.

40 minutes just to rub a bit of salt into the wound
