Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I say this every year but I don't know how much a good centre is going to help when the only time they get the ball is when rucking it out of our own half.

It's only round 1 but I don't remember Faatape getting the ball in the opposition red zone, AD got it a few times but our line was way too flat to do anything.
Lets hope this improves. First real hitout for Romy and Galvin together, but showed about as much shape as 5 year old and a box of crayons, diabolical to watch... No depth, no power onto the ball in attacking phases, just shimmy side to side. Flat.... Knights defenders not asked to make any decisions under pressure....
With Olam all but done May would be a solid pickup, definitely need some strike out wide.

How much Fkn cap room do we need?
We let go of 1.2 in backrowers to sign no one! If you want to make some space - our 24-30 could sod off and we wouldn’t even Notice.
Does more cap space put us in a better or worse position to fill holes in the squad with quality?

Throw one out there.

How about we swap Klemmer for Sloan ? He is extremely fast and playing reserve grade.
He would play on wing and push Turuva to centre

We just don't have the guy that worries teams for pace
Great idea mate

But it won't happen and I'm pretty sue Sloan doesn't want to play wing

Although that's where he belongs at this stage of his career

Has it thus far?
What did we do with Bateman and Isaiahs' money?
Answer my question first.

1. Yes. Obviously. We have improved the squad a lot over the past 2 years.

2. Whatever they want. Fair chance some of it helped with being able to snap up Terrell so easily. Maybe a little top up to help us re-seign Fonua. Maybe a little went to some of our gun junior re-signings (Haywood, Taupau-Moors, Makasini, Godinet et al). Maybe they're sitting on some more of it, waiting for a decent way to spend it. Maybe some of it has factored into future upgrades for some of our up and comers that may be in demand.

Where do you think it was or will be spent?

To sign no one????

So Terrell May, Jeral Skelton, Royce Hunt, Fonua Pole, Jack Bird, Alex Seyfarth that’s no one is it?

Terrell replaced Stefano, Skelton replaced Tupou, Fonua and Seyfarth were already here, Np?
Hunt and Bird you could argue - Although there's been plenty go the other way in recent times
that far outweigh them of late.

Now we're letting go of Klemmer?
Who have we signed that replace Papalii, And to a lesser extent Miller and Fa'agutu?
This also goes back to before this offseason

I disagree,
The 900 we had aside to miss Stefano surely helped snap up Royce and Terrell?

If we're using top tier cap to pay kids - Just shoot us now.
We've moved Sullivan, Bateman, Miller, Fa'agutu at the death this offseason already
and now Klemmer?
You wanted me to answer the question - You didn't answer mine?

How much 'Cap Space' do we need? and to sign whom?

The old creating cap space dream is tedious as we just need a clean out.

We've been paying players to play for other teams since the sheenanigans of 2012...
Why?
We're forever clearing the cap?

As I said, We've 'cleared a lot of cap' this off season - Not much coming back in return...

Great highlight!
I went back through all of the team stats of the dogs season and there are multiple games of 50+ and 40+ missed tackles. Funnily some of those are even when the dogs put on a score like 32-2 v knights or 41-16 vs Broncos.
The dogs finished the season with a missed tackle avg of 38.68
Missed tackles does not seam to be notable concern for coaches with many of the final top 8 teams feature in the top 8 missed tackles on avg for the season. A funny stat lead by the premiers (as in worse) last season is ineffective tackles. What are ineffective tackles?
You can see that in the game stats if a player/team is credited with a tackle break it leads to a missed tackle for the opposition player/team.
But what are ineffective tackles?
I keep going back to the line breaks conceded vs tries conceded that shows our defence in round 1 was on the right track.
Ineffective tackles are when an offload in conceded. So you've made the tackle but you were ineffective in halting the play.
Missed tackles are when are tackle is broken.
Additionally, Depending on the media company (most do it) missed tackles/tackle breaks are also recorded when there is a clean linebreak. The old it's not a missed tackles if you don't touch them quote is not true. If someone makes a linebreak where you are meant to be a missed tackle and tackle break is typically recorded.

We definitely need some players in key positions but the biggest priority for me is a coaching cleanout. From NRL through to Flegg and the juniors we should have quality coaches but we don't. Just one example below NRL is Aaron Payne.

Ok downloaded Bar TV and watched KOE to see Fainu. ln a well beaten team, I don’t see what people are saying about Latu in the KOE game against Newcastle. He looked classy with ball in hand, kicked well. Played a traditional 7 role. The 6 was very energetic. Latu didn’t have many if any opportunities close their line. Gave away a penalty mid second half when they were getting steamrolled. I thought he was fine if not good

'Top tier cap'?

Theres one cap. Space is space. Diversifying the use of where the cap is spent by position is part of the process of rebalancing. As is discretional use of strategic or long term focussed upgrades to kids in the plans.

As much as we can get to sign the best that we can get in the positions we need as soon as we can.

More money means greater buying power and readiness. It's that simple.

But you know that's the answer I suspect and rather, you just don't think they should be doing it. Am I right?
