Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'm starting to hate the way the game is headed.
The system allows managers to advertise their players while still under contract to other clubs ending up in a situation that Parra finds themselves in now.
Get smashed in week 1 and their key player announces he is chasing the dollars elsewhere but is committed to playing for the club this year.
That's not how fans build connections to teams. Your connection is through the players who wear the jersey. Knowing they have committed elsewhere does not sit well.
We did the same with Luai and their were probably some Penrith fans that wrote him off from that moment, however they follow a club that continued winning so it became less of an issue. Parramatta are likely to not be in that situation.
PVL says he listens to what the fans want - I don't think any fan wants this type of trading happening with their players after week 1 in the season.

It doesn’t mean anything

Luai is free to negotiate with clubs this November 1 for 2027.

You don’t think his manager is going to try and get a ten year deal somewhere for more money that brown?

This year will either be great and we’ll keep both luai and galvin OR we lose both of them and we sack benji and we start all over again

It’s going to be very very interesting

Literally boom or bust for the next ten years - like teddy and moses leaving
10 year deal ? He will be 30 at that point . Maybe 5 at most . Also luai wanted to come to the tigers and fix his boyhood club . Thats a huge incentive .
Which is why the Galvin - eels thought experiment being promoted on here , may have legs IMO. It just depends on how angry the separation was with the club. I mean it wasn’t just he was dropped , it was also that they refused to let him play for another club as well. That’s pretty shitful behaviour around a 16 year old . What happened if the tigers didn’t pay the release clause . Because he was apparently pretty small at that point and there wasnt a whole bunch of suitors waiting in the wings . I mean we struck gold in doing so , so clever stuff from whoever made that decision ,but yea I’d be filthy personally if that happened to my boy .
You sign a contract in good faith , the club says they don’t want you , so you look elsewhere , and the club says we don’t want you but no one else can have you either . What happens if your kid hasn’t shown what Galvin has and is a slow burner ? And the eels just screwed your kids development . For me I’d be filthy about that forever . So I guess we will see .

Don’t get the Parra and Galvin links.

If he leaves it’s to win football games and I think parra are further behind than us.

I’m more worried about Manly sniffing around post DCE retirement tbh.
I reckon it'll be the Roosters. They will try and pinch a lot of players in the next season or 2. Dogs will be after him too.
Manly have Large who is apparently a gun.

People acting like loyalty is the big driver here after Dylan Brown just signed an enormous deal to go to Newcastle & wither away his career.

Galvin is going to get offered a lot of money- and that will be the deciding factor. Be it the Tigers, Eels, Manly, PNG or whoever- the market for young halves was set by Sam Walker & Galvin is going to cash in on the hype.

As he should.

The bigger danger, instead of losing Galvin, is signing a player on too much money for what they offer. If there is a bidding war, as I expect there will be, the winner might not be the club that signs him for $13m over 10 years. (No- I know that was Brown's contract- I'm just using generalisations).

Regardless of who we're up against with Galvin, the club is going to have to consider whether it is worth have 2 halves on 1M+.

The choice might be made for the club if he decides to leave, but I think we need to see if Luai and Galvin can be effective. Round 1 wasn't a great start, and I remember Prince and Benji clicked from the first time they played together.

PVL does not listen to fans in the slightest, all he listens to is money and power. He is better than his predecessor but still not the right person to head the game.

Hard to say. Brown has more longevity, is more physical and is quicker with I would say just as much skill.
The big difference is in the nature. Luai is a fighter and wants to be in everything. Brown sits back and waits for his moments.
10 years is a big risk for any player

Yes them bastards have more ex- tigers than any other club , I think u could be on the money there

I think browns newcastle 10yr deal has sealed the deal for his manager to look for a similar contract for Galvin.

And I can see come November 1st,
Both Luai & Galvin might be both entertaining offers from other clubs for 2027.

And a few clubs are going to be ready with offers.

The catalyst for Brown is, amongst other things, a lack of halves coming through. It happened with fullbacks and props in the past. He's in a sellers market.

People are changing jobs every 2 years, yet expect these guys to stay loyal for 10, but want to flick the discards as quickly as possible. We cheer when an underperforming player is released, yet we moan when a great player wants to move on.

You can't have your cake and eat it too. It's about being better as an organisation and creating an environment that people want to stay.

In saying that, and with all the loyalty in the world, can we all look at ourselves in the mirror and honestly say we wouldn't have taken a guaranteed 10 years at 1.3 mill with ratchet clauses? Some deals are just too good to refuse. He's looked after well into his 30's and if he stays fit, might have another year or 2 left in him. Set for life.

It's all well and good to pay big money to attract players, but it can also be a noose around their neck. As a top 2 or 3 paid player, you need to influence games regularly.

The balance of agendas is not right. Players want to win and want security. Clubs also want the same. Unfortunately, that involves horse trading to get to where you want to be and the fan suffers.

I don't know if it's fixable to a point where people are going to be happy.

Anasta doesn't manage Galvin

Galvin can't sign anywhere until November, if he's playing lights out until then then we match whatever offer he gets, if his form drops we might get him for cheap, no need to rush things
Exactly mate. Talk of huge money for Galvin is premature. He needs to show week to week consistency and influence games.

That's what clubs pay big money for. Not potential.

It's all there in front of him, but he needs to get serious and work as part of the team, not try to be the Lachlan Galvin show each week.

Your head is in the clouds. We’ve already tried to re-sign him. His management will go to the market. Forget this “We need to be winning BS”. Club needs to start preparing Fainu.

This is true...most players that "leave it to their manager" end up leaving.

they've got the hottest halves prospect in rugby league on their books. They are going to test the market for sure.

Couple that with non-committal comments around staying atvthe Tigers and rejected extension offers and you can be sure he has one foot out the door.

Good planning by the club signing Fainu.
