Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We needed an edge forward before we shafted Klemmer, now we need a prop as well. They’ve had a whole off season to sort this out, and an off season longer than most at that. The best teams in the comp have their rosters sorted before the season begins. Going into a season unprepared like this us unforgivable really and it’s the reason why we continually struggle to be competitive. I was hoping for better this year…silly me.
Its a very reactionary move rather than proactive, though I think it all started with something out of our hands? Molo
Not the best prep tho, but theres movement in other teams too atm

Probably see a statement from the club regarding Klemmer release once completed then a couple days for the May release we have signed him up , Then Olam retirement one , then couple days and a back rower signs , sounds easy to me , but to the club no more upgrades from with in they are bog average , buy, buy , buy

im not sure why everyone is freaking out about our front row. May, pole, twal, hunt, seyfarth, s fainu, sione faniu are all props or can play it. Our biggest concern has to be back row.
Sam and sione, bird, seyfarth are rerally all we have and that to me is bleak
I would say Sam and Bird are the only two 😞

Id call it influence...aura is too nice for him

Surprise surprise today hes pushing Cheez to Souths
I find it weird people take issue with this. He is just one of many voices saying Smith to Souths would be a good move for them.

He praises Galvin...like 100% of other journos and players, yet Gould does it because it is his sneaky plan to land Galvin?

Can I coin the term GDS? Gould Derangement Syndrome?

Do you think Gould is totally able to separate his role in the media and his role at the Dogs?

He is not overtly making a recruitment pitch, but there is at the very least an implicit pitch there. Its pretty naive imo to think Gould doesn't use his platform to benefit the Dogs

I don't really think anything could/should be done about it, but it is there

What I think is he is saying the same as everyone else.

If Gould says it, it is an implicit pitch, using the media to get his way. If someone else linked with a club says it, it's all good.

He also said Luai would be good for the Tigers. I'm just struggling to find the implicit pitch in many of his comments. Oh Brandon, you'll be great for Souths, but wink wink, I want you at the Bulldogs....

Calling out players implicitly or otherwise in the media to join his club is hardly good practice. We have seen that with Lee and his big mouth. It's a conspiracy theory.

He's been commentating on the game for years. Nothing wrong with saying someones a good player in my opinion.

What do you want to do sign the dreggs that other teams don't want or wait till the right player becomes available, it was very slim pickings last off season.
I thought we have made a good start season to season and now Taylan looks a real possibility, I feel your angst but patience is needed to pick up the right player.

I'm going to get slaughtered for this one but... Ryan Matterson worth a look? he's playing reserve grade for Parra this week. I believe he's good mates with Benji too & is still pretty close with Twal.
Don't hate the shout. Would definitely be in contention as starting lock and offers some depth on the edge. Just need to make sure his attitude aligns with the club moving forward. If we get him at some reasonable coin I think it's a good signing

Sure you can, but it's just a way of deflecting from Gould's conflict of interest as a media personality and club administrator, just as DJT supporters coined the term 'TDS' to deflect from his countless transgressions and gross unsuitability for office.

Fingers crossed Klemmer deal is finalised and Olam is medically retired. Then we sign Taylan May and a decent lock or edge player or both.
I think we all need to be patient and it will all work out. I have faith in Richo and Benj to make this happen. In the meantime we need to improve on field and notch up a few wins to settle everything and everyone down so we can focus on improving our game each week without too much pressure.

If you rush the job you end up with Mbye Packet and the like as your elite players. Better to take longer then sign long term contracts with duds again

Didn't see him in the Training Photos - Here's an interesting thought...
Wonder if he plays the amount of games if it triggers his contract for next year.

Odd he's leaving a potential 2 year deal for 1 and the NRL is allowing it.
Wonder how much it's costing us.
Won’t matter how many games he plays if he’s contracted to the Dragons
