OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

The thing about Galvin's next deal is that whether it's us or someone else, he will, in all likelihood, be offered a contract well-above his true value at the moment.

So the outcomes aren't that much of a mystery. For me, there's basically two.

Either we stump up the cash and take a gamble on one of the most impressive young kids to come through in decades, or, we check, and allow another team to raise and do the exact, same thing.

He'll be on overs for the next few years regardless.

His next contract could be overs for it's duration if he plateaus or, it could end up being unders if his development continues well and he starts becoming majorly influential in the outcome of games.

Whether we think he's worth it or not, or whether he has shown enough yet or whether he deserves it, is neither here or there. He'll get the money.

Either we take the gamble or we don't.

I prefer to hold the cards and dictate terms, so I'm taking that risk.
Spot on
If we dont some other club will.
Thats all there is to it

As @jrtiger @poopy_diaper on Wests Tigers Faithful podcast said, this next contract is more than just Galvin.

It's a contract that will galvanise belief amongst the players & parents in the club's pathways that the Macarthur kids are the future and want to play together to achieve the ultimate success!

It's a contract that will put past demons of Tedesco et al to rest that we are a development club for others!

It's a contract that will show that Richo is God & Benji is his disciple!

Ok maybe being a bit dramatic but it's an important one for the club (regardless of contingencies in place).
Haha they ripped me off....i said this last week...it will make everyone take notice and put to bed we are only here as a feeder for others and not just making up the numbers

If Galvin is signed to that kind of money- a position needs to be found for Latu Fainu or he sucks up too much of our cap to be a back-up.

Then the club needs to find a place for Sullivan.

When you have Doueihi & Mason also on the books- that is 6 viable halves in the squad- not including Bird..
Latu to lock , he done a great job there , and yes pay him $650 after his current contract expires

While his C head manager is lurking in the Wests Tigers shadows trying to get his claws into our juniors the threat to get them to other clubs will always be present.

I don't agree with the commentary around Brown at all.

If the guy up your street gets a crazy price for your house, that's nice, but it doesn't mean that everyone else in the street can now ask for the same money and that other buyers will be compelled to be offering crazy money.

Knights wanted Dylan Brown, they were desperate to make it happen and they've offered huge money. That does not automatically confer onto all other halves in the comp, especially because Brown is not a proven winner nor a rep player.
Excellent post; Really like the house analogy.

Again, it all comes down to value per team.

Like we did with the fainus?
Of course this will continue to.occur but the perception we are easy beats and.our good kids want out will be put to bed
Start winning and toughen up, sounds simple enough hey, if only it was that easy, but we look to be on the right path now finally.

Just want to put this out there re: Gould's comments about what the tigers should or shouldn't be offering Galvin.

He has created (in the public eye) a catch-22 for the tigers. He's a sneaky bugger who knows all the tricks is old Gus.

He says publicly "They can't put that pressure on the kid".

So then what? You're trying to influence the tigers to offer less than other clubs will. Other clubs like... Hmmm, I don't know... Canterbury?

Straight from the uncle Nick playbook you offer him $850-900 per season, with a house, car, career after league, all sight unseen....

Sounds like a manipulative ploy to get the tigers to low ball themselves out of the equation to me.

Thankfully though, we are no longer run by the clueless leadership of the past and I feel Richo is a bona fidé sparring partner for slimy Gus who knows all the tricks himself.

I'm more than happy to trust his judgement on this by offering what he knows is fair, and if we have another Stef situation, then so be it.

I've said it before - I think Richardson is close to the best appointment or signing the club has ever had.

I’m hearing that Wedler journos is saying. 5 year deal $ 5 million and Galvin will still go to market , what would that tell us , he wants more or he wants out
It's imperative we make the 8 this year if we want any chance of Galvin signing with us. We all want money but we want success too and Galvin would be no different. We aren't in a position to keep losing games like last week. They are must wins and I think thats why most of us had the shits with the loss. I would be pulling our offer if we don't make the 8 this year and save face. There will be others in the future

Funny how we see things differently. I also believe Gus to be a master manipulator, but that was not what I saw the other night.
If anything he was having a crack at the media and player manager for driving this months before he is even able to negotiate.

If the deal is true and he doesn't accept it than for mine he can bugger off, we only want players whose heart is with the Tigers, I think even that money is too much he has potential but has a while to go to be a superstar.
Problem is , it may be a lot for an unproven , non rep player to be paid but I feel someone will pay it to take him from us .
Parra will have the money , Roosters always have money , Dogs with slimy Gould , Panthers to partner chin

You have to draw a line in the sand mate, for all we know his manager could use those clubs to inflate his price just as we were used in the past.
We have to have a ceiling figure, we all agree if you pay sky high money to keep him it affects the quality of the squad to get to premiership level.

Who knows what would have happened if Latu had not been injured at the start of last year. Galvin got a rails run to start and has kept his nose just far enough in front so far.
Latu is no worse off than any other upcoming half waiting for injury/suspension to show his wares
Much like at Melbourne hynes and wishart the most recent
and what about the meteoric rise of Braydon Trindall.

You know, not trying to start anything here, but there was a stage last year where I was saying all this stuff and getting bashed from pillar to post on here.
Im glad people are beginning to look at things a bit more objectively rather than subjectively.
I'll openly admit that I was one of the supporters who would have moved heaven and earth to keep him last year, though I never had a go at anyone on the forum for having a different view. The change for me was the Warriors game, I'll preface this by saying he's only a pup and will get much, much better, though for every good thing he did I can remember a set of six where the play broke down, I distinctly remember one set about 25 metres out of the Warriors line Luai gave him the ball, Galvin crabbed right then back left when he couldn't find someone to give it to or any space to run in and just passed the ball back to Luai who looked lost and just took a hit up and got tackled. It's that, the energy he shows Is amazing I love the fact he always wants the ball and isn't afraid to step up and put his hand up, when he does though he's really raw and alot of the time our attack breaks down. Million dollar players don't do that, 750, 800k I can live with while he learns, I just don't want us tied down on a long term deal based on potential again. Latu came on ran straight and scored, I'm not comparing the two, I'm suggesting maybe we give the other guy a chance to prove himself with Luai in the halves before throwing the chequebook at Galvin.

Or could you could argue we are never even in those positions to win without him? This weekend will be very telling anyway without him. Each to their own, but I think he’s been getting better each game without setting up a billion tries
Latu and Galvin will be a better combo. Maybe even latu and luai. But luai and galvin is a disaster. They've had 4 games together and everyone has been below average. Even the wins

I’m hearing that Wedler journos is saying. 5 year deal $ 5 million and Galvin will still go to market , what would that tell us , he wants more or he wants out
Iv already stated if he goes to market if that offer is legit, he's not worth more than a million. Imo Galvin on the bench Latu in the halves with Luai. Don't commit anything to a player not committed to us.
