Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tigers have signed former Newcastle Knights centre Krystian Mapapalangi on a train-and-trial contract for the remainder of the 2025 season.

bring me Kai Pearce-Paul. athletic, rangy, finds holes, busts tackles and offloads at will, but has been forced to play with the shackles on at Newcastle.

at the right price he is the perfect weapon for Lachlan Galvin on that right edge.
He’s a hard one to get a gauge on as he has all the physical attributes to be a superstar, but as a previous poster stated, sometimes he looks like Tarzan, but plays like Jane.
What do you think is a fair & reasonable price for him ?
I could be wrong, but I’m sure I once read his current contract is 750k, he might want and expect more ?

Lucas was the one we should’ve gone hard for. I have rated him highly for a few years now. Will be a rep player eventually.

Imho he is not a 750k player, probably closer to 600k mark

Bloody oath! Him and Samuela as our 2nd rowers would be epic. Richo prefers doing business behind closed doors though...so hearing his name linked to us (unless we are at the point of signing) could be a big manager play to squeeze more money from somewhere.

good question. I think to prise him away from Newcastle we’re probably going to offer him a similar amount, say $700k.

I don’t think he’s worth that, but it might be what we have to pay to get him across. we’re going to be pretty desperate too.

Would it cost us Duncombe and/or Godinet?

As other have said, I guess this is all about getting the books in shape to make Galvin and TDS substantial offers. My concern is all about our forwards. We don’t have enough quality now, by mid season when the injury toll will mount we will struggle to put a forward pack on the paddock that can compete with the bottom teams.

All recruitment must be aimed at our lack of forward strength
Look I totally agree, WE need forwards BAD!

Absolute Kudos to May, Hunt and Bird. My total appreciation also goes to Pole and Seyfarth who have both done way better then expected. ... In short I expected us to get flattened Now.

Unlike 2024, for these few games our pack has stood up. 2025 Tigers you make me proud.

We NEED forwards, because our guys are going to get injured. Our depth has stood up, but it's going to get injured.

Yet...

Do we miss out on TDS and Galvin to get a mediocre 2nd rower?

This is why I really did not want to lose Klemmer. One injury and he would be really handy.
