LIVE GAME Round 5 "high shot crackdown" discussion *spoilers*

Live Game Discussion
I was thinking Dogs might fall away this year. Man was I wrong. No kikau and burton too. They play such simple high intensity football, everyone knows and does their job.

Don't think they have the class to match it with the big boys at the pointy end but they will be around
Once Teams realise that when you do the same to them, they will struggle. They are very impressive with line speed and numbers but when it happens to them, they start playing catch up footy.
And I'm not saying they are a bad team at all as results speak volumes

I get protecting the players .
But the refs just don’t have any consistency, it’s that simple
Carrigan hit one of our guys clean to the side of the face , no penalty , no sin bin , I think there was another in the game as well that got nothing ,
Crossland Newcastle player , blaintent trip , should have been sent off no binned as it’s illegal and a very dirty play.
Trell Mitchel he’s back and all the hype was his game , yep played well and got that angry man face on again , but I have looked at Lindsay Collin’s injury in the goal area , did Trell come in KNEES first and clip his legs , looked like it , anyone see it or is it just my eye sight shot

Why don't halves put a chip kick behind the opposition defensive line more often the wingers and fullbacks are waiting for the big kicks 30/40 meters away, Reynolds last night was perfect, no one does it any more.

Ps: the Phil Blake day's, if a player does that now I reckon he'll clean up ( tries, try assists)
It is coached out of them based on the risk reward. If the bounce is good it looks fantastic, if the bounce when the other way and Bula picks up the ball in broken play against a line that isn't set he could easily run 50 the other way and have them scrambling with a retreating defensive line.

Many coaches today simply want high % low risk plays; a repeatable formula that relies on pressure. Get through the set, kick to the corner, apply pressure and wait for the opposition mistake to attack.

It is refreshing to see our team doing something different and not afraid to play footy as opposed to follow like sheep. As much as I hated it at the time, Reynolds field goal and chip for the try were top shelf.

Yeah, I hate that guy all the way up to his neck tats, but jeez he can pull off some really freaky shit.

Pheonix crossland has a prior tripping case last years semi v penrith on Yeo
Youd think hed be sitting down for at least a week

Sorry but, all games this weekend were hard to watch. So many lame calls. Let them play unless first initial contact is to the head. IMO

My brother roots for GC Titans, and there were some calls that went their way, that even he was like wtf??

Someone did a GREAT shot, around the chest/shoulders, which made the player slip down, and the defenders arm hit his chin......penalty. GTFO

I am in my 70's and i have never had less faith in the refereeing/judicial area than i do at the moment. There is no consistency in decisions on or off the field (Judiciary) blatant favouritism and looking after vested interests seems to be the main agenda in play.

I am too jad..it's a joke..I'm fast losing my interest with the game..and I've been supporting since 1957
Yeah it’s the same every year, especially for teams like ours. We come out playing well then the ref favouritism starts. Not saying every one of our games is influenced by the refs, sometimes we’re just not good enough, but a high percentage of our losses in close games are because of ref decisions going against us that you just know wouldn’t happen to the other team.

I’m bloody sick of it, it’s demoralising and it stuffs up our season every year. It’s very easy to lose interest because of it because the season for us would be so different if we just had a fair shake every week.

We now have the talent, but unfortunately not the depth to overcome these crucial decisions going against us. I honestly don’t know if we’re ever gonna get a fair break. It’s hard to gauge our performances really because losing 3-4 games a year through bad ref calls makes us look worse than we may actually be. Fair reffing and winning those extra 3 games would mean no wooden spoon.
