Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s rumoured that Dominic Young will be dropped to NSW Cup this afternoon.
Could The Roosters be looking to offload Young and make a big money bid to sign Kotoni Staggs ?
Obviously Staggs would be great for us, but if we can’t sign him, Young wouldn’t be a bad get as we could always move Skelton or Turuva to the centres.

I think we need a right centre more than anything I think among the backs.

Deine Mariner is who I'd be asking questions about. he's far too good to be playing reserve grade.

one position we are actually fine with are wingers with Skelton, Turuva and Luke L next man up … we don’t need to be paying top dollar for Young to play NSW Cup either …

Sign some forwards !

I’d happily take Mariner, he’s a brilliant attacking player, but I don’t think his defence is rock solid.
Could we afford to outbid everyone else for Staggs and would he be worth a big money contract to us ?
We have never had a centre who can defend as well and as aggressively as what he does and in his limited opportunities goal kicking he has a high success rate.

I don't know if we really need a centre at the moment Toa, solo, naden and Doubie

Edge backrowers left and right and a middle would help us keep rolling forward.
I'm not sure what more Toa could be doing at the moment to secure his spot at right centre.
He was comfortably our best outside back in 2023. 24 was a write off due to injury but he Has been pretty good thus far this year.
I was highly critical of him in the past as he came to us with unlimited talent but a reputation of an unwillingness to put in the work off the field. That doesn't seem to be an issue the last few years as he is starting to mature.

He needs to find consistency. Where’s the hard hits in defence we saw in the eels game been since that game ?

Ain’t that the truth. When we sign three quality forwards than you can have a look at the backline. For now it’s two back rowers and a middle should be on the top of the shopping list’

Need a prop and a second rower. Backs are fine for this year.
No doubt. Whilst it is clear we have a bit more about ourselves versus how we were last year, still not deep enough in my opinion to make a push for a spot in the Finals. Will be interesting to see what we do going forward and how much confidence or drive those in charge really have.

They should be working to solve both. Think backrower/lock is a priority closely followed by centre. Toa and Doueihi are doing a job at the moment, Faatape and Naden are both serviceable back ups. If you look through all the other sides it is a distinct area of weakness for us though. All have had problems with recurrent injuries too

Upgrading of Sol tells me the club view things like you do though.

I never really rated him that much, but man I think he's having a great year. I didn't really
think he was that agile or elusive as he is. Helps having sunny on the wing too. Get another
edge runner to team up/rotate with seyfarth and I think Toa go another gear. Tough to put
down once he get on the outside of the opp centre.
Would've been interesting to see how IP would've gone with him.
