Grow up & smell the roses

Empty rumours serve no purpose - and more often than not grow into online 'Chinese whispers' & vitriol to related players - managers & clubs about circumstances that are entirely fictional...
who gives a rat's - its the internet, log off ,get outside n smell your roses. Grow up stop bagging people out for their thoughts. I LOVE GOSSIP ,being a bored monkey that likes to chatter, shreach n wave its limbs about - you hearing me

Plenty had the same view on Matamua and Fa’agutu. Massive wraps, Origin and schoolboy reps etc. Havea may be better than Latu, Latu may be better than Hevea. That’s for them to prove.

The whole narrative around “blocking a pathway” is starting to go too far the other way now. It’s getting to the point where parents and agents now basically demanding that a spot is held for their kid in the first grade squad and is theirs the moment they turn 18/19 without even truely working for it. It’s becoming a detriment to the club and development of clubs as a whole.

My view is, yes there may be a gun kid 2 years older than you, but if you truely are as good as you think you are you should be able to take that spot from them and show that you’re the better long term option. Penrith have had that mentality for years and so have the storm. You perform better, you get the spot.
don’t disagree that parents and agents have too much sway, but if this club wants to truly develop it’s own, you don’t go and pluck a 19 year old out of St George. you sign experienced players to show these kids how to play first grade.

I saw Brad Arthur interviewed this morning after Leeds won their Super League game. He basically said he wants to return to Sydney to be close to his family.
So if we eliminate Penrith, Parra ( They won't want him back), Saints( I can't see them dumping Flanno), Roosters , Sharks, Bulldogs, Rabbitohs where the coaching situation seems stable that only leaves Wests , Manly (likely to play finals so probably not) and Newcastle.
Pressure is now up on Benji and O'Brien
Disclaimer: I love Benji and don't want it to happen.

Luai did OK without Cleary.
Cleary not doing to well without luai?
Don't hear much about that from the expert commentators?
Dude what? Cleary made a 16 point come back in a grand final why Luai took an early shower 🤣 I know you want to prop up Luai but this is just clouding reality.

Don’t get me wrong they are missing a gun half’s partner lot but IMO they are missing JFH the most. Not sure Talagi is a 5/8 either.

Luai was playing with one arm. Pretty sure he played in all of the four premiership wins and won an Origin series, without him Penrith are pretenders.

I didn’t say Luai wasn’t injured. Doesn’t change the fact that Nathan is the best player in the comp by far & 1 that grand final for them with his 5/8 on the bench

Or he could see out his contract with Leeds, understand that living abroad in the UK is a great opportunity for his family.

He could, but if you watched the interview he was very clear that his preference is to go home.
He even said he'd like to leave on good terms and return in 10 years. His mind seems set on a return and no doubt his agent has feelers out.

Arthur as an assistant coach wouldn’t be bad for us. If he wants to move back that might be his only option initially to be an assistant coach.

I think Benji is safe as houses this year. Even if we don't win another game but compete each game. If we get through another off season with some great recruitment again. Then he will have 10 games next yr to win.
Do I think we get another May like signing no. How ever if we can some top teir workers and a bit of punch wow-wee we could have a side.

Appreciate your confirmation Except monkeys dont gossip. No frontal cortex. But I understand how you correlate chatter with gossip. And monkeys have a strong sense of olfaction hence do not need to venture outside to smell the roses. They can stay logged on and offer the world their nebulous pearls of wisdom.

Exactly this. That is why I bet my bottom dollar we are still a big player for Kobe Hetherington as a middle priority and contingency will suss out Adam Elliott & Tyson Frizell also if Hetherington falls through. Just my opinion.

Plus we'd have to be a good chance at Kai Pearce-Paul and I reckon a smokey depending on what happens at Broncos with cap is Jordan Riki, I think Teddy23 or someone mentioned this a while back.

Then the likes of Pheonix Godinet & Tame Havea Jr can develop properly with good role models above them.

I think those that have been calling for Benji's head only need to look over at Penrith to see that the playing group has a lot to do with how the coach is performing. The last few years Cleary has been up on a pedestal, same game plan, same coach and still has a bunch of high profile players. So what has changed at the Riff - a couple of key positional changes.

Not being close enough to see what was going on at training etc, I had not formed a view on Benji's ability. The reason for that is a lot can be going on behind the scene that just isn't translating to on field success. There was enough in what we did see, for 75% of most games, to give me the feel that he had some ability.

My gut feel was that he had until the bye to get this higher quality team heading in the right direction. Week one was a poor start; but, as a coach, he has kicked a few goals since then. The team has demonstrated that they can execute different game plans against different opponents and have been in every game. They have also shown a level of resolve to come back from being behind in a couple.

So what we know now is that the kid can coach; how good he can coach is yet to be seen. Those who claimed he has no idea clearly had the wrong end of the stick.

Benji's future always gets back to results...
Personally I dont applaud the way he was appointed, and having got over that Im confused by competing trends of senior players not wanting to play for him(most of whom are struggling at their new clubs btw)..and offsetting that hes a bit of a drawcard for younger players...at the moment...whilst theres hope
This year:s result will determine his future
Top 10 result he retains Galvin and attracts more to build on
Bottom 4 he loses Galvin...maybe Luai
Wooden spoon and its over

Pearce-Paul has scored 1 try in 24 matches and is hardly going to set us alight.
