OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Interestingly Galvin has increased his appetite for high risk plays in recent weeks which haven't mostly come off..in hindsight, selfish plays to enhance his reputation
Part of that equation is coaches have worked out how to stop him
He's no Tedesco...
But Latu or Bud need to step it up to replace him..close,but not there yet

It is obvious he has been offered a contract elsewhere. Probably the Chooks or Dogs or even Parra. Although technically illegal I guess mum dad and Moses have been wined and dined by a few of the parasite clubs.

My worry now is TDS
TDS hasn’t been moping around since his debut about releases and assurances on playing time. I’m hopeful his outcome will be a lot better for us.

Or maybe he’s seen enough, or maybe it’s just the dollars. Limited loyalty these days, plus the Brown contract opened the doors big time. Guess you can’t blame him, interesting to see if he does live up to the wraps.

why don’t you think we should drop him ?
Because he's our best 5/8 right now, and the club and coaches first, and most important objective, is to win games of footy

Just want to put this out there re: Gould's comments about what the tigers should or shouldn't be offering Galvin.

He has created (in the public eye) a catch-22 for the tigers. He's a sneaky bugger who knows all the tricks is old Gus.

He says publicly "They can't put that pressure on the kid".

So then what? You're trying to influence the tigers to offer less than other clubs will. Other clubs like... Hmmm, I don't know... Canterbury?

Straight from the uncle Nick playbook you offer him $850-900 per season, with a house, car, career after league, all sight unseen....

Sounds like a manipulative ploy to get the tigers to low ball themselves out of the equation to me.

Thankfully though, we are no longer run by the clueless leadership of the past and I feel Richo is a bona fidé sparring partner for slimy Gus who knows all the tricks himself.

I'm more than happy to trust his judgement on this by offering what he knows is fair, and if we have another Stef situation, then so be it.

I've said it before - I think Richardson is close to the best appointment or signing the club has ever had.
This one

Don't think any club will offer him a lot more than us
Brown just got a one off ridiculous offer which knights will regret..u can see its already pissed off Ponga who looks disinterested imo

I wrote in a post (couple of weeks ago? Dunno - I'm old...I'll see if I can find it) that Gould is the epitome of Machiavellian and very cunning with what he puts out there.

Says dogs are not interested in Galvin, simultaneously calling him the best teenager he's ever seen - despite being at Penrith when Fittler was first there for God's sake.

* Actually, was Gould at the roosters when Fittler moved?

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this is a classic misdirection and Galvin ends up at the dogs.

And any talk of fitting him into their cap is moot imo; we've all seen in recent years their ability to offload players in bulk to accommodate their shiny new toys.
You are a very astute man TS.
I’ve seen it work with ladies as well, they spend a lot of time talking about how uninterested they are in certain men, then bingo, it’s all just a ploy to get their man
I think the same with Gus.
I regard loyalty as a very important trait and an essential part of good employees, players, wives, girlfriends, whatever.
Can’t entertain disloyalty at all.

Richo has removed his bargaining power with other clubs
We could of upgrade him this year and next which he can’t get anywhere else unless we release him
We have 18 months to lineup another 6 whether it’s from within or external
We also have the 10 day window in which we can top the deal gets offered come November if it suits us to do so
Smart move by the club imo

And I want the best 17 on the paddock. If we put him in reserve grade you outside of form you risk losing credibility with other players internally and externally imo
Yea it has to be form based . I’m just not convinced he offers that much more than AD , and I’m especially not convinced about Latu. I was big on pushing him to lock in the off season as I’ve been pretty staunch on Latu being the better half . It’s weird that a kid who’s half the size of the other is the one who can handle the middle , when they’re the same age .
The reason he was getting a lot of those minutes was for development . If he’s gone , there’s no reason at all to develop him .
I think 2 years of 18th man would kill us though in the player market . But the rest of the year in KOE , I don’t see that as a bad outcome . It was his choice .
You can’t say it’s just business in one hand , and then get upset when the club says it’s just business and drops you .

You don't punish Galvin for signing elsewhere- that opens the club up for questions of bias & isn't a good look for the players at the club for future contract deals.

You let Galvin's play determine if he's in 1st grade or not.

If he plays well- you pick him.

If he is outplayed- you pick the guy that outplays him.

It is now up to Galvin as to what grade he plays. I wouldn't even consider releasing him. If he rides the KOE pine, he's not sinking the club's salary cap. He doesn't have that hanging over the club.

It's in his best interest to play well.

But now the leash is short, and there are options if he doesn't perform.
Agree 100%

He loves the club from what I heard . Tigers tragic as a kid , and he’s already been told when api retires you’re next man up . He also has a far better idea on the fact that he’s probably not going to hit his straps for another 3 years . And sharing time over that period with one of the smartest 9s to ever play the game is 💯 the right move for his career . I don’t think TDS is going anywhere .

I have no doubt that there was a plan for his development. It looks like we are awkward but I'm pretty sure that Benji is trying to allow our playmakers play what they see. What that means is we have to have structure that the play makers hit once they've done whatever unstructured stuff they do. We started to see Sam F hit with the ball on the edge as he is now running the lines that are being picked up.

A lot of that has to do with timing and poisitoniong; how many times did we see Romey overrun by the edges on the weekend. They don't have that alignment yet.

This is where the "development" of the team around Galvin has to be reigned in so Latu F (if he can get in the paddock) and pick up from Galvin.
True but I think it would be tweaked a touch for Latu.
I can see a team list that has Galvin start and Latu finish the game at 5/8. Who misses out on the bench though is a mystery.

All he has said is he wants to play football and let his manager deal with the contract.

Well his manager has dealt with it.

I surprisingly am happy that it has been decided and we can move on rather than wait until Nov 1 and be told then.
We can choose to do what is best for the Club now which does not include a 19 year old kid who has potential to be a good football player. His best attribute is his fitness and to be given a chance to showcase that in FG when other clubs would have had him in Ball, Flegg or KOE has inflated his own self worth.

I would prioritise Latu over him once back from injury. Lachlan Galvin with a 6 or 7 jersey in KOE or 18 Jersey in FG where he would get to sit on the bench and see his teammate out there enjoying hopefully another win. I was at Leichhardt last year when we played the Titans and he was rested after complaining of playing through injury after wanted out the week before in the Dragons game and we won without him. He can relive that for two years.

Let the RLPA complain but Tallis sat out for a year so Galvin can train and sit on the bench for this time and see where he develops.

I support how the club has handled this as Galvin has asked for a release numerous times which is similar to Tedesco ( signing with Raiders ) and we saw how that finally panned out and who we lost
(Paps to the storm) holding out to support players that were never going to stay.

Be interested to see what happens on Monday at CommBank along with Team list Tuesday
Awesome post.
