The sooner, the better....
The NRL really needs to act quickly, and FIX this blight on our game, and start to really hold managers and players accountable for their contractual obligations.
Moving forward, we should have nothing to do with Moses. IMO he should be made an example of, and a full investigation into Moses's actions. So far he seems like the Teflon Don, nothing is sticking to him....
‘Blight on the game’: NRL set for player agent crackdown as Galvin saga rolls on

I think the nrl has to do 2 or 3 things moving forward . For starters no club can sign a player before their 16th birthday . And that contract can only be a generic nrl contract that has no stipulation other than the guarantee the signing club will be given right of refusal on the next contract ; the rookie contract .
This should be a tiered 3 level contract based on performance coming through the grades ; so elite talent ; which qualifies as Aus schoolboy jerseys/ nz schoolboy jerseys . Coming through the grades you need to hit a certain criteria to achieve tier 1 . This should be no more than 250k for 3 years , with guaranteed development contract . Eg. Mason Fainu x2 , Luke Lualiii
Tier 2 should be , state rep players , players from tier 2 nations , and really the only tier that is flexible to negotiation ; it’s basically an nrl minimum contract , with an option of the club making the player a development player . This will be the most common “elite contract” . Eg. Someone like Sukkar, Kit Lulaliii . You can also sign players like Faatape to this contract late bloomers .
Tier 3 , is basically the development contract . So just about every kid from SG ball through flegg to KOE. It is the most common contract , with a small bit of leverage of say 10-20k between the top and lower end of the contracts .
You can upgrade the players from tier 3- tier - 1 , for the duration of their rookie contract . So at any point you could get a kid who just booms out of nowhere and jumps through the grades where they qualify for a tier 1 contract. Eg. A player didn’t play much junior reps , but kills it at sg ball level after they’ve signed their rookie contract , and get u19s rep honours .
There’s absolutely minimum room or need for a manager , as the criteria is set by the nrl , especially for the younger players , which means really most kids , even elite talent , don’t require a manager until they’re 21 years old .
Also the nrl needs to revert the system back to only being able to negotiate your next contract in the final 6 months of your existing contract . 1 year is just too long .
There’s absolutely no reason why 6 months isn’t along enough time period , considering everyone else out there who’s under contract has really 1-2 months between contracts to renegotiate/ change companies .
It will mean that the months of May and June will be taken up by contract talks , but those months are meh , and everyone is focused on origin anyway . Plus it’s before the June 30 deadline , where you could negotiate player swaps .
I think trades should also be granted . The draft is controversial ( I think it would fix most of the issues tbh) so that shouldn’t be brought in , but a trade window , where clubs should have to some form of capital for wrecking other teams , like the eels being behind a fair chunk of these “mid season player moves” , they should have to pay for it either with player comp , or a significant financial hit .
The eels have done this by the way like 10 times over the last 5-10 years . Theres the Moses and Matterson ones for us , but RCG , waga Blake , there’s heaps … anyways ..
yea I think what I said is the answer . These absolutely no reason a kid should need an agent until they’re 20 years old . The contracts should be fixed and alow for growth .
Also in this period if a kid does blow up , and any money they can make from their likeness should not be taken out of the salary and included .
