Does the club still have issues?

And now allegations of bullying from Tumeth and Matamua have been disclosed as false.

The club has deep issues, everywhere you look.

A huge juniors pathway that does a poor job of developing the players in it, so much that they don't develop or leave for better systems.

Joint venture sides who are dysfunctional and embarrass us in the media eg. moving to New Zealand, going on their own.

Legends from the joint venture clubs like Benny Elias who embarrass us in the media to serve themselves.

Scars from previous CEOs ranging from fake membership numbers to lack of investment in local communities to terrible contracts, that we are only now addressing and will take years to straighten out, if they ever are.

And an outright disrespect from the media and the NRL. Seriously, how can a professional league allow a player agent to insult a coach the way he has, to manipulate a contract the way he has and allow the media to make false statements about player welfare?

For me, the past 7 days are the nadir of my time supporting the club. It appears so much has changed but actually, nothing has. We still lose to Parra. We still can't defend. We get burnt by Moses, one of our own juniors, who left for a better club at the manipulation of the same agent. Our reserves and juniors still lose, badly. Benny still makes us look stupid. Journos still make the news cycle about us. We are still accused of terrible player welfare processes. We still call emergency pressers to discuss juniors who are leaving. Former players still speak about us as a joke. The NRL still does nothing about any of the above that it can control. We still lack depth in our roster. We still don't have 30 players signed. Same shit, same toilet.

You think Tumeth and Matamua should be playing first grade?
No, but in saying that we still do not have a 13 that can play before the line and create space for our halves ala Yeo at the Panthers.
We supposedly planned to have Jack Bird play that role, but it hasn’t happened, why not ?
Matamua has his faults, but has shown he can play before the line and create space for his halves, he was in our plans during the trials then after 1 or 2 rounds he was banished to Ron Massey Cup.
It was obviously a ploy by our club to try and make him leave and free up a top 30 position, but in saying that we still have top 30 positions available, but have signed nobody ?
Even on a bad day Matamua is better than the majority of our current NSW Cup forwards. I see he’s been recalled at 5/8 this week which is not his position, so he’s more or less been set up to fail yet again, why ?
Tumeth has barely been sighted since 2023 after both he and Matamua played for a NSW u/19’s team that beat Qld convincingly in 2022.
He scored 7 tries in his first 12 games playing NSW Cup as a 19/20y.o therefore it is baffling as to how he has fallen off a cliff so badly since ?
So like Matamua they are obviously playing him down in Sydney Shield, hoping to force him to leave and free up a top 30 spot.
Last season it was the same story with Chris Faagatu who was made to play mainly Ron Massey Cup despite having a top 30 contract with us for 2025, he has since departed the club and not been seen since.
So the point I’m making is it looks like we are using dirty tactics to force players out, rather than handle it moralistically and I don’t see this happening at any other NRL club.
When Gus Gould was asked about this last night on 360 his facial expression said it all.

Do we really need another inuemdo thread?
Nothing personal OP but if mason doesnt say exactly what....then its not worth discussing.
There's enuff.BS flying around

The post is more about figuring out if there is any validity to some of the rumours going around.

From my understanding, the club seemed to be on track. Yet after this saga, it’s claimed by multiple sources that things have been boiling away in the background for sometime.

This is a tigers forum, so figured someone might have some intel as I honestly don’t think Gus Gould, Michael Chammas and Willy Mason + more would all basically say the same thing without some truth the behind it.

While some comments in the media relate to Galvin, some comments also indicate we have major issues behind the scenes.

Richo has come in and cleaned out bad contracts and signed some handy replacements. Now trying to lock up kids and one trying to get out of a contract. It’s the necessary bumps and bruises. Dogs were smashed year before last doing the same thing. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

No doubt the club has been poorly managed for a long time I suspect it’s changing and some don’t like it.

I was thinking about this today after watching Mason blabbing on with his skewed opinions presented as facts. My thought is that this is all either a pile on by people that have one grudge or another with Wests Tigers, or deliberate destabilisation by individuals with an agenda (read player manager etc). What I am hearing is all innuendo and vague accusations with no substance at all. I would think somebody would leak a bit of substance here or there but nothing. My two bits.

Tumeth has barely been sighted since 2023, I witnessed him score a great hat trick playing NSW Cup as a young 19y.o prospect in round 1 of 2022 against the Roosters at Leichhardt Oval opposing Siua Wong. This was shortly after both he and Matamua played for NSW u/19’s in a team that belted a Qld team featuring plenty of players who are now NRL stars.
I looked up Tumeth’s stats and he scored 7 tries in his first 12 games in NSW Cup as a 19/20y.o so I am baffled as to how he has fallen off a cliff so badly since ?
So like Matamua they are obviously playing him down in Sydney Shield, hoping to force him to leave and free up a top 30 spot. Again who are we bringing in as we currently have top 30 sports available, but are signing nobody.

How are they being forced out?
They are now free agents according to RLPA guidelines....theyre still here, but if another club wants them the choice is theirs,,,,but, crickets

How do we handle this moralistacally? LOL
ALL clubs ditch players year after year when it suits them

We were the dumping ground for lazy agents with below par players, needs to change and is.

Gus intimated there is a lot more “shit” that is about to blow up regarding the club… stirring the pot or fact?… who knows
From my read, it was on the other side of the equation. The red flags mention around Galvin is suggesting that there is an issue with his actions, or his slimy agent. Gus was steering clear.

Potentially evidence that there has been deal discussions while under contract...

It's just the rugby league soap opera and we are battling to get off the bottom of the food chain.

From my perspective the club is doing what It should have done back in 2016/17. If you give into agents like Isaac Moses they just screw you regardless. The club would have leaked and broken up internally by now with the old board and Justin Pascoe at the helm.

If we stay united as a club and stand behind Richo, agents such as Moses will know not to agitative for early releases because they know they won't get them. Isaac Moses is pulling out his big guns on this now, but he only has a few media cycles left up his sleeves before the circus moves on.

Willie Mason works with Bulldogs pathways and is an assistant coach direct opposition to our club and so has a vested interest in a competitive market. Not sure I would be listening to anything he is trotting out.
I'd hardly listen to anything Mason says with any seriousness, guy is a half loon and overly dramatic.

I think the bullying claims deserves its own thread.

From what is alleged, my understanding is that the Club has signed players to bigger contracts and is now regretting it. Since they want the players to move on now, they are playing them in reserve grade so that they will be unhappy and move on rather than serving out their contract.

I have no idea if it's true or not, but that is equivalent of the Club not doing the right thing ethically. We shouldn't be stopping a player's growth so they can be pushed out.

I hope it's not true and something that should be discussed away from Galvin.
I think if you go watch a few games of NSW cup or RMC your fears will be allayed. Anyone that has deserved a chance a got it.

Willie also hates the Tigers and goes scorched earth policy when given a license. Horo pretty much acknolewdged this on yesterday/todays Levels
Willie openly said in the podcast that the tigers and eels are two of his most hated teams.. so I'd be taking his opinion with a grain of salt. I know how I feel about certain clubs and my perception on them is definitely tainted.

They can serve out their contract in Ron Massey. They still get paid.

If they aren't up to the standard of KOE we don't have to select them

If someone was a standout, another club would pick them up.

This is what they want

We are on an upward trajectory and in a much better position that seasons that have gone by.

A true rebuild takes time.

Richo can't change our pathways system overnight..it starts with the NRL and KOE teams.. it starts with the administration

As the pantine pro V ad once said, it won't happen over night, but it will happen

He begged us for a contract.
Club was keen but there was push back from the fans, saying, we don't want him, he's a grub, etc.
So the club never went through with it.

NRLs most hated cuzzz.

You make some good points …I have felt some unease with what we have read about some of the player exits …. We have heard many times that the Bulldogs turned over their entire squad in a year or something… and seemed to with minimal fuss ( with 1 exception) … what methods are they using that is different to ours ?

However , I note Faagatu remains a free agent months after being moved on … so none of the other 16 clubs want him on a development deal either let alone in their Top 30 ? I suspect the same fate is in store for Matamua and Tumeth who have been big failures … the questions need to be asked why were these three players signed to these Top 30 deals for several years … it’s easy to blame Pascoe , but I assume others at the club were making the case to him .. let’s hope they have been moved on now with him
